I just finished moving so I could have a workshop, and OMG what a shop it is ? Took a spare room in the new apt. and it has my bench (old industrial metal desk) for tooling and cutting, a wardrobe for projects I'm working on to store in between steps, a sewing machine, an entertainment center that I lined up the hole in the back to the window for my dying and painting, an end table for molding my 'eyes' on, and a metal antique folding shelf with my electric tools on, and an antique trunk to store my leather in. And yup, can still walk through and around it from 'station to station.' And the rest of the apt. is the rest of the way, I can WALK through every room. I may faint from happiness. Ray I get mine from Springfield's for my guitar straps. About 6 bucks for a silver plate buckle set. They have gold plate too but I like silver better, it's what I wear, so I guess people are stuck with what I like, LOL.

a lot of us are right there with you and I go to the mission, salvation army, etc to nab the leather purses and even other materials for the hardware. I'd take couches anytime except hard to do when ya don't drive. Uh anything, LOL.

If you are a single owner you don't need to be an LLC etc. And I just called the state, a free number, and told them I needed an ein and they gave it to me right over the phone.

SLC at the top of these pages have chrome tanned in colors and you can call or ask Kevin at the site and he'll tell you just exactly what you need. That's where I get most of my supplies. Cheryl

I use all water based so I haven't had to worry about that. But I put mine on with a sponge straight down the strap. And that's why I'm not getting good results. Just need to think of this like rolling paint, LOL. I don't know about denatured, pharmacies only sell the iso? OH JEEZE Glendon, that just gave me an idea. I have those small sponge type rollers, so I may try one of those with light coats on the next project.

I would do it......cut, dye and don't forget to burnish the edges and dye them, mold, stitch and then put resolene on as a finish. No it's not a wax, it's a liquid, and seems to work best, not look 'plastic' mixed 50/50 with water. And nothing is too hard for a first project if it's what you want to do. If you make a mistake, try and turn that piece into something else, learn from it and redo the original holder. Be sure and let us see when you're done. Cheryl

Exactly CTG and registering a TM or a product, none of it means a hill of beans when someone overseas sees your product and makes them, and sells them cheaply made for 1/3 of the price you charge. It's all an attorney game, not for we little folk just trying to get by.

Budd, I registered my name in VT. for 50 bucks. Actually doesn't protect me from anything other than no one would want my name anyway :-) But it does make me a legitimate business for things like shipping and wholesale accounts. And it looks cool on the wall as i sit here in my bedroom/shop/shipping center/office/ and so on.

Last one I used green and blue on came lout looking tie dyed so i went with it. I've not tried diluting them even though i dilute my 'browns' all the time. Light coats, great idea. Cheryl

It would work Syl IF you embossed the clay instead which would just take stamping a small bit of putty and then putting the final mold of putty pressed into the stamped hardened stamped pieces before baking it. Oh man would this be fun or WHAT? c

Oh man I gotta try this. I can think of a gazillion things I'd like to try, well one for instance your beer holder idea. just do it long enough and cut it in 1/2 and ya got matching sides. I ended up molding that pen holder on a vacuum niche tool, wider at the top and then more narrow like the pens. God we get paid to have this much fun? c

OH OK, I thought it was in wood to begin with but isn't that an extra step? Why not just use the wood mold? Or make a clay mold? Anyway Kev I think it's a neat idea. Where do you buy molding clay at? Is it a craft thing or an industrial type thing?

Hey Kev. Now that's something I could do and not have a Lucile Ball moment, unlike the expanding foam. So you made the clay mold with wire coat hangers and there wasn't any wood drilling or routing required? This is what you used to make your cigar lighter you carry isn't it? And there's so many other things that you could do with it, make an ink pen holder or pencil, we always need a pencil and I don't know about you, well yeah I do, you're more organized, but I can never find my pencil when I need it. I need a box of them I guess instead of the two I'm always looking for. It's a totally cool and totally you idea.

Did you become a vegan? Is that why you're molding hot dogs instead of buying them? They have Angus hot dogs now of all things, does that mean healthier than the already molded spam that comprises a hot dog? Seriously Kevin, I can tell, do you already have a routed hole in this to put the putty to mold it to begin with? I'm a tad tired and very confused :-)

Cat, I sell on eBay some and I can tell you most people won't bid when something is that high to start with, unless you're going to do a buy it now, and you may or may not get a bid. If you're going to do a regular auction I'd start them lower and let people bid it up that high. Just the way I do my things from watching other stuff that sells. Cheryl

Barack made you close your shop? How odd. Maybe one of the Bushes will buy it. Since I personally am starting up a small business with a grant made available by President Obama's initiatives maybe you ought to look closer to home, or right in your shop as to why you're closing it up Sir.
