  3. Heat with a heat gun?? that actually doesn't sound good for the leather. You just need a 2-2.5" belt strip and to wet form it. wrap it up with plastic wrap tight until it dries then sew it together. I would use 4-5 oz leather. thats my 2cents:) good luck with the project.

Well, This is a first set for me, but I have leather pouches that are worked HARD and are 20 years old, also seen leather sheaths that are from 1500's that still look good... so I guess it is just as always just up to the owner and the care of such an item. Feels real nice in your hands though:)
  5. Tattooing leather is VERY challenging!

      Sure is. Takes lots of trial and error with different machines and needles. I've found sealing the leather with neat lac before tattooing helps a lot with the splattering and spread of ink.
