HOWDY FELLOW CRACKER! I am moving back home soon to the Plant City area.

I made this to save some time reaching for tools I use a lot while lacing guitar straps bags and motorcycle seats and whatever else I do in a sitting position. I figured I could save about 30-40 mins looking and stretching for tools and having them in a quick draw position and just below my work space will help save time. TIME=MONEY so anything i can do to save some time i think is more than worth while! I think making similar items for other things like stamping tools and swivel knives for the trade shows i work that have limited space for tool racks is the key now. Anyway just thought I would share:) Since this photo I have added a secondary leg strap to the top as well.

This is the pattern and sizes for the Waylon Jennings Strap and most guitar straps with a buckle and wide for names. Feel free to modify the widths to your wishes! This is just a basic design. I hope this helps answer some questions. I have been making guitar straps for a long time and this is one of my favourites. Personally I prefer my front strap end a little wider and shorter...but like I said feel free to modify what you want! I am just trying to help the newer folks and people just getting into straps. As you can see on the Ronnie Hymes strap; since he plays a jumbo acoustic like I do I tapered the front of the strap more. Good Luck and HAPPY POUNDING! IMPORTANT MEASURING TIPS! 1.Always measure hole to hole for clients straps, so you have a overall length. The buckle adjustment and extension strap length can vary. But always use that 1st measurement as a guid to have as a middle point in the buckle holes. Incase they change the guitar and the profile is different and lengths need to be different for say an Acoustic or a Strat.. 2. Always measure from the front hole to the Collar bone on you/Clients if this is for a customer for NAME STRAPS. the worst thing is if the name ends up going up over the shoulder. So ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS make that measurement! Feel free to ask questions there are enough of us here that can lend an ear and spout some comments. Cheers! Chancey

just use those:9 or the buckle strap just make a strap and add a buckle:) A gift from me to the community:) If it's good enough for Merle its good enough for us! I just personally prefer my ends a little wider than his.

As you have here on this strap the buckle is ornamental not a actual working buckle, so next time you can give yourself more room by making the end of the strap the 1.5" strap for the buckle to attach to while still working on the front or backside. There is a lot of space on this one used by the sewn attachments. I tend to always put the buckles in the back for actual use for up and down, and do the name carving on the front, but I do like it as an ornamental thing as well I have done tons of them that way. We don't abide by the rules we just make them up as we go! That is the glory of what we do! There is NO WRONG OR RIGHT! Keep it up my friend! KEEP IT UP!

Looks good Cogs! Very Classy! As for conchos ...I think people against them and think they will damage guitars are not guitar players...we tend to separate the strap from the guitar when stored in cases...SO CONCHO AWAY MY FRIEND! THEY LOOK GOOD! I have 2 straps with conchos, and never once have they scratched or damaged my guitar...I never clean my guitars because I like the mojo and I have actually yelled at my guitar techs for even thinking about it:) I have 2 guitars that in order to play it if anyone ever wanted to they may need some special shots before handling them:) 12 years of road hard touring and sweating battery acid mixed with whiskey will make a guitar have the mojo it should in my opinion. Don't get me started on belt buckle rash on the backs, it is just part of the game...Conchos on the strap are my last concern. Keep pounding! And if you want, or the client wants conchos don't ever be afraid to do it! One thing I just noticed about this strap...IF I MAY ADD... The front measurement from the attachment on the guitar to the collar bone is the most important measurement you get from a client / friend just like the hole to hole measurement for their length. The last thing anyone wants is their name or letters going over their shoulder, so always measure to the collar bone. Just my addition:)
