Wow very cool! I have been wanting to do a case. Did you use any mdf or birch backing? Looks like the top is all leather no wood?

Old Leatherworker Might Attempt First Motorcycle Seat
chancey77 replied to REDTAILHAWK's topic in Motorcycles and Biker Gear
Looks like you have the process down...now how about something that doesn't look like your stamps threw up all over your leather hahahahaha Time to sharpen up the knife and make a carving now! You got the process down!!! LOOKS GREAT! And I am glad you have joined the ranks of the seat makers:) You should be charging between 450-600 for these seats now! Go make some carvings and make some bank! I hope you take this as it was meant to be taken with encouragement and good humor! -
I am doing the dash:)...he may or may not be able to afford the 4 door panels. They are 1000€ each.

I Don't Always Get To Pound Leather But, When I Do....

Sweet! I feel your pain on that triple loop stitch border! ............So how many days did that take you:) -
That Fargo is one heck of a ride! I would love to see more pictures of that car! can you email me some pictures? chancey77@gmail.com I have worked and built manny cars and bikes and I have some favorites and anything with a 318 and 727 is gold in my book! You made a great decision with that! Sad to hear about your story and not being able to enjoy the greasy side of cars anymore. My dad has had enough as well! Won't turn a wrench on anything these days either. But hey that is what retirement is all about right:) I'll be sure to post up some more pics as it is time for the road. Lets see how long it takes for the paint to get put on but they will be driving it this year. Biggest problem is all those old registration papers where cardboard, and this car has no papers and he is going to have a heck of a time making it legal here in Finland. The car has not been actually on the road since the 1950s. This isn't Florida! Finland is real tuff on cars! I hope it gets to see some real road time and not just a trailer to the shows! SNED ME PICS OF THAT FARGO! PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEEE:) Thanks Ray and EVERYONE for looking!

Hey NICE STRAPS!!!!!!!! If I can add one wonderful addition to them...add a small hole at the top of the slots.Just use the smallest or 2nd smallest hole setting on your hole punch. It is an anti tear hole and also gives a little extra give to get the strap over the guitar strap button. This helps tremendously in the long run and life of the strap. KEEP POUNDING!!!! LOOKING GOOD!!!!

So my friend Timo has had this project for a while, and it was completely full of cancer and nothing but a shell and a dream of what it once was. Well..........DREAM ON DUDE!!!!!! GOOD FOR YOU!!!!!! With A LOT of elbow grease and some serious know how DIY Finland style, these guys have resurrected what most people would think is impossible! They dropped in a blown 292-Y block and all new everything! Most of the parts have been made from scratch! Including the wicked cool steering arm you see here in front of the drivers door. It will have a cover eventually, but this is just as it stands today. As of now this car has a new frame, Floor and lower metal all the way around this 29 Dodge Brothers car. The lower half was completely GONE!!!!!! Sitting in a yard eatin by time and neglect; leave it up to the bad ass Finns to fix something this awesome from near death. So obviously the lower metal of the hood was completely gone and adding full out wild psychobilly pipes sticking out , well.....it was pretty pointless to even try to make some side panels that will work...so thats where ole' Chancey steps in! I hooked him up with some real slick hood straps. Custom machined brass parts for the clips and all brass hardware to match the other brass parts Timo has machined. Well, here is the end result, for my part anyhow:) the guys have a ways to go including finishing the metal work and paint, but I can see this rockabilly wreck is going to live and raise some more hell before it is all over with VERY SOON!!!!! NEVER SAY DIE!!!!!!!! If you have some old wrecked up hunks of metal that used to be wicked gangster cars or street rods the people from Finland can teach us all a thing or 2 about never giving up! **********MORE PICS***********

Well.....If you are making standard Holes/slots 5/16 is pretty standard...don't forget the anti rip hole up top of the slot. Gretsch guitars use a screw in style button that is 5mm. so do not make a slot in these straps only a single hole. For guitars using strap locks you need a 10mm-13/32 hole NO SLOT. GET METRIC PUNCHES:) so there are basically 3 styles of standard strap holes. Go to your local music shop and buy Schaller Strap Locks and a set of original replacement strap buttons. That way you have a way to test them since it seems you don't own a guitar to test these straps on.

Cool design. I am with Benlilly next time you do lace take your wing divider and trace around the edge 5mm or 1/4" that way you have a line to follow and get it closer to the edge. A single loop stitch would look great but a triple loop would fill the gaps real nice. Overall good job and keep pounding!

Cool design!! I love it! I always dye, then oil let it sit for 24 hours and then either wax it or spray clear on it about 2-3 coats then after that sits another day wax it some more and heat the wax with a hair dryer so it melts into the leather....
