  1. What is all this about paper??????? FORGET PAPER! Go buy some overhead projector transparency plastic sheets they come in packs of 100 and they are cheap and you can print on them...is you have a normal ink cartridge not a laser printer just dry the ink with a hair dryer... The sheets are TUFF AS NAILS! Printable and you can print small things in corners and use the same sheet many times if you have to...
  2. You CAN use veg tan and I have for many years! Just make sure after you tool it and it is complete you add Leather oils to it...
  3. I am no chemist I am guessing that it would be the alcohol but in my case it is Ethanol...
  4. I have had this happen a couple of random times. I attributed it to the dye being bad. I tested it on several different scraps from different hides and all resulted in the same ...then I opened a new bottle and Whammo problem solved...I use Ethanol based dyes not eco flow ANYTHING! But Dyes do go bad..and some batches of dye are not done properly as well. I think this could happen for several reasons, but shipping, storage temps, and leaving the container open while you do brush and dauber work instead of pouring small batches in jars will also do it. I have adopted a small jar for every color I use and recycle the glass jars I use from food stuff and seal those jars with Plastic wrap when I am not using them to ensure a seal. I did a seat that this happened with and had to go buy some new black dye, problem solved. No matter how much Neatsfoot or Any other oil I have did anything except dull the white haze...New Black dye did it right immediately. Good luck:)

  16. Looks like you really dove in! WOW first try????? Man that is really amazing for a first go! THUMBS UP FROM THIS GUY! REMEMBER FLAWS ARE WHAT MAKES IT HAND MADE AND NOT MACHINE MADE! I like stuff that I cant spot a weird thing or 2 on...it tells me someone actually made this by the,selves....and from my quick look without a microscope...i don't see anything wrong with this rig AT ALL! HYVÄ!
  17. Look at the bottom of the guitar on the backside... Nicholas did not curl his letters or try to make them look fancy at all..... so look at the M in made and the M in Mick that was not done by the same person... In my opinion if carving it looks like the C is different as well.... So my guess would be that Micky Carved her name in:)
  18. Sorry for my miss use of ; 4:30am... Glad you think it is funny hahaha
  19. Well after doing a little more Digging Mick was the nickname for Conway's first wife Maxine “Mickey” Jaco Ramsey, so I am sure it could have been bought by her for Conway as a present in addition to the guitar he is seen to have owned pre leather wrap and was a way to get her name on the guitar as a signature (sort of a I LOVE YOU this is from ME)...she may have even carved it on herself from the looks of the letters they don't match Nicholas' Name carved letters....this is pure speculation on my part but I feel lends the best explanation to date.... Any other thoughts? Is Maxine still alive? Is anyone in Tennessee that could help track her down and ask her if she is????? I would think she would hold the key to the real answers and back story for this guitar.
