  1. Looking good as always, Josh. How are you liking the tension devices? I have been toying around with trying them out. I bought most of the components, but haven't tried them yet.
  2. That's a new one for me. It's not something I'd recommend.
  3. Nicely done, and for a good cause. I was sad to hear about that -- if I recall correctly, this is the first WVC police officer lost in the line of duty, correct?
  4. Holy crap, Josh! You are absolutely knocking them out of the park. Top-notch work.

Two of those look like Barry King's edgers, but I'm not sure about the third one.
  6. Exactly right -- I'm struggling to find a family-friendly term to express my admiration. I suppose I'll just have to say that it's breathtaking, and leave it at that.
  7. I just checked, and my Officers patterns are 3/4" shorter than my Commander patterns. If you like the way the bottom of your holsters are with a Commander 1911, then 3/4" off of that should yield the same results.
  8. Looks great, Josh! I think a lot of us are guilty of the "shoemaker has no shoes" thing. I did finally make myself a nice one recently, but all of the others were prototypes, or ones where I'd messed up the dye. As for the muzzle, I prefer to have the leather wrap around and protect the muzzle a bit. I generally don't worry about leaving too big of an opening, since I usually use an air compressor to blow out the dust and lint.
  9. Completely dry in an hour? That would be something else. I generally hang things up to dry overnight, wherever it happens to be warmest (which varies greatly, depending on the season). I really like what you guys are doing here... I think I need to stop thinking about it, and just do it. Dwight, can you tell me more about your "clicker"? I searched ebay, but all I found were garage door openers... I'm assuming there is a more technical name for that component that I don't know. At any rate, that temp range sounds just about perfect for me.
  10. Sometimes there aren't a lot of choices, so I will use whatever is available when the situation requires it... but if there is a mold offered by multiple makers, I almost always prefer the Blue Gun. There are exceptions sometimes -- For the Browning Hi Power, I like the ASP Red Gun better than the Blue Gun. I also really like Blackhawk's molds, but they only offer a whopping 4 models (they used to offer a few more). I avoid molds intended for Kydex holsters, except as a last resort.
  11. I would be happy to lend you mine, but I've got several orders for CZ-75 holsters scattered over the next few weeks. I know the pain of waiting, though. Perhaps someone of the other folks will be able to help.
  12. I really need to build one of these. Things dry fine and dandy during the summer (my entire place tends toward the "too damn hot" side of things this time of year), but in the winter, things change drastically. This could be a big help. Thanks for the links and info, everyone!
  13. I made this a while back for a friend. He wanted a single-point-type sling for his .357 saddle ring carbine, with some cartridge loops on the front side. It attaches to the saddle ring with a trigger snap. I wasn't too sure about sizing, so I took inspiration from one of my bag straps, and used a center-bar buckle to allow quite a bit of adjustment. The main strap is 7/8oz, the cartridge loops are 3/4oz, all HO. Color is Angelus Russet.
  14. Something I've learned is that sweat can be a big factor. Back before I was making my own, I bought a nice, custom-made IWB holster that I used nearly every day. After about 3 years, it was basically done-for. It looked and behaved a lot like an over-oiled baseball glove. My line of work has changed, so I don't spend as much time soaking holsters with sweat (I have also learned to rotate them so they can dry completely), and haven't ruined one since.
  15. Thanks, I'll check them out, too! About how long does it take to receive your order, roughly? I'm just curious how far in advance I need to plan things.
  16. It appears that Sheridan Leather -- who I have been getting my leather from for the last year or so -- is going to be closing their doors, which is a shame. They've provided me with excellent service, and they're close to me, so I usually had my order in 2 days. However, I'm considering just ordering directly from Hermann Oak. The 10-side minimum order is what has stopped me before, but considering that I'm on my 3rd side in the last month, I guess it's time to think bigger. Does anyone else order directly from them?
  17. Yep, different slide profile, too. The Sigma slide was pretty blocky, but they gave the SD9 slide more shape, sort of like an M&P.
  18. They are of similar size, but the shape is different enough that I doubt the old Sigma blue gun would work. To my knowledge, the only company making an SD9 mold is Multi-Mold, who I have mixed feelings about. On one hand, their molds are high quality, and they offer molds that no one else does. On the other hand, almost all of their molds are intended for Kydex holsters, so they fill in the trigger guards and ejection ports.
  19. Bunkhouse Tools has a Hi Point mold that costs a good bit less than other molds. http://www.shop.bunkhousetools.com/Holster-Molds_c2.htm?page=all They aren't shaped like anything else, not even remotely. In order to make a holster for one, you'd either have to get a mold, or use the actual gun. I don't mean to knock anyone, but I've got to go with Dwight on this one -- the holster would probably be worth almost as much as the gun. I've been asked twice if I could make a holster for a Hi Point, but neither person went through with the order, so I never got a mold for one. I'm pretty sure my prices were a big factor in that. Spending 85 to 100 dollars on a holster for a 1911 or Sig is no big deal, but that's more than half the cost of a $160 Hi Point.
