Parang Scabbard
Sir Derrin replied to tkirwan's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
I would suggest a stitching pony/horse and not punching any holes until "after" all the actaul tooling etc... is done...Then even if it stretchs a bit it will be no biggy because you can trim it and poke holes as needed -

I like the design .....If you had a stitching wheel or some other spacing aid it would help your sewing a great deal.....One question I have is did you include a welt ? -
Scroll through this thread and make sure you watch the vidoe link at the end. I found it pretty informative....Hopefully it will answer some of your questions.... http://leatherworker...showtopic=46025

Little Holster I Made
Sir Derrin replied to Sir Derrin's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
The over all shape came from a pattern....It was from the Classic 1911 Patterns 100th Anniversary Pack and it was the Frasier pattern with my own design modifications.... -

Thank you and the edges where done with a plain old round slicker and a bit of saliva...I know that may sound a bit disgusting but it works in just a few minutes and can make a nice burnished edge quickly. I left this a bit rough on purpose he wanted an "rustic antique" look to the holster.... -
