I guess Steve has been busy. I got my New Cobra series 4 today. This transaction was the way it is supposed to be in my opinion. Got it set up and it does sew like a dream. I still have a little adjusting to do but a real promising machine. Ken

I had a call from Todd today and he offered to refund my money on both stamps if I would return them. I was not in the least impressed with his attitude. I will return the stamps to him, and I do not beleive I was wrong to post the information I did on the web site. I expected standard knurling on the handles and I imagine there are people out there that might like the knurling on the smaller stamp I recieved. I posted here on this site after I had contacted Todd and it was his attitued that drove my decision to post what I did. I will give the difference and go with Infinity because I feel they not only did a better job, were more professional and had a much better customer relations department. I don't need any more of Mr. Todds attitude or insults. On a positive note, Received my New Cobra Class 4 stitcher today. Everything is exactly as Steve said it would be. The third deal I have done with the gentleman in the past few years. Always a gentleman and goes the extra mile for his customers. I got the new business cards for my new location a couple of days ago. Studio 3, run by a young lady by the name of Deanna Keller in Rapid City, SD. The third set of cards she has done for me. SUPER, SUPER SERVICE, REASONABLE PRICES AND FANTASTIC WORK. I strive to give my customers excellent quality work, good service and RESPECT!! I hope to get good service from my suppliers and I pray I earn my customers Respect and loyalty. Ken

Bruce is right on the mark. Good points! I second your post. Ken

I went through this a few years ago. I finally sewed up a lot of scrap I had laying around and was amazed how quickly I learned how to sew. PRACTICE, PRACTICE AND MORE PRACTICE!!!!!!!!!!!!! Work with your machine, not against it. Best of Luck! Ken

I am looking for a sole cutter in good shape. I just want a simple Landis sole cutter. Thanks guys. Ken

I have only used it a couple of times and you are right, it is difficult to keep it from turning. Th ridges are pretty sharp. I have pretty hard, rough hands, made that way by 40 years of ranching and cowboying. Very uncomfortable to use the tool. Actually, the large stamp has almost all of the knurling sanded off of it. It is a big stamp and it doesn't make any difference. In my opinion, there is a quality control problem with the stamps. BUT, the stamps do make a nice mark. I want to state, I do not have a problem with the large stamp but do still feel the small stamp is not correct and I just want other crafters to know about it. I can not afford to have duplicate stamps made and doubt a lot of other people can either. Ken

I will try to get a better picture of the 2 stamps in question posted. No very computer savy!!!! Ken

I had a pair of infinity at my last location and they were very good. I wish I had went back to them. The "harper" Steel Stamps Inc., were $50.00 cheaper. Big mistake for me. Ken

These stamps make a very good impression, as good as the infinity I had at my last location. The problem is the handle on the smaller of the two stamps. I will try to get a picture of it posted the next day or two. I am well satisfied with the quality of the face of these stamps. Interesting how these things happen when companies change hands. Ken

It is steel stamps inc. now. I don't know rather it has sold or what but I will not ever do business with them or recommend them ever again. Seems like I have been having more problems with poor service and inferior products the last 6 months than I have in years. I hope it gets better. Maybe I expect too much but I feel that if you pay for a premium tool, you should not have to rework it to do the job it is intended for. I have a lot of suppliers that are never a problem and I appreciate them beyond what words can describe. Ken
-
This too will be made usable and with some work. I just feel that a premium priced tool should be correct. Mistakes do happen and how a person or company handles honest mistakes speaks volumes about their character. Just my opinion. I wish I had went with Infinity again.

I ordered a pair of maker stamps from what used to be Harper Mfg. in Las Vegas. The handle on on is not right in my opinion. Knurling cut one way, not the other. Handle will almost cut your hand and turns the stamp. I called Todd out there and was told to get used to it. It is what it is and It is mine. I am very disappointed. I will NEVER do business with this company again.

I am going to move in 3 to 4 months. I will move the shop if it doesn't sell. I will sell the business complete wtih retail inventory for less than wholesale. Just the retail, or retail and any or all of the shop equipment. Not going to start selling machines or tools one peice at a time. I have a place to relocate to and will train someone to do the work in the next 3 to 4 months if you need that. Shop is growing fast. Ken

Gary, It sure is, I would like for you to call me if you are interested. This shop is making a good living but I need to relocate for personal reasons. I have developed arthritis and want to go farther south. The price is quite reasonable. Thanks, Ken 605-343-1300.

winding bobbin by hand or by drill
Ken Nelson replied to esantoro's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
I use a remote bobbin winder and they can be purchased, factory made for about $100.00. I built one, used belt driven industrial winder, put a household sewing motor on to drive it and it works great. FAST, with a lot of control and cheap to build. I mounted it on the wall out of the way. Handy as all get out. -
Hadlock Fox has a really good tool that will cut string, split it and bevel it. Not fancy and I did a little cleanup on mine but works really well on light string 5-6 oz up to half inch wide. A year ago, it run about $90.
