  1. This machine has a new paint job, skiver blade sharpened, New Sole cutter blade. Works good. Will try to get a picture of it up now. Thanks Ken
  2. Apparently someone missed my point completely. If you can design a professional business card at home at a competetive price, you are best off to do so. Most, and I see quite a few, homemade cards do exactly what I stated in the last post. They look cheap, are on poor quality paper and look terrible after just a few weeks in a wallet. I have a friend whose daughter works in a print shop. She makes him high quality cards and laminates the ones he gives to really important customers. I would like to be able to afford lamimated cards to give to a few of my best customers and friends. Few people that make their own cards end up with professional cards but a few do. I think it is about projecting the right image to the consumer and prospective consumer. Another observation, I have never had a person say something to the effect of "I REALLY NEED TO GET BETTER CARDS"! Another consideration to consider, is how good do they last. Laminating them or doing plastic ones are the best for lasting but cost prohibitive for me. I do not intend to judge anyone's cards, or abilities here. I made the mistake and just trying to help others starting out to not make the same mistakes I have made. MY long 2 cents worth. Ken
  3. I have my cards professionally done and buy 1000 at a time. They are very reasonable, cost effective. $90 per 1000. I get a lot of compliments on them. A retired, very successful businessman told me when I first started that business cards are a true representation of your business. Cheap or homemade business cards SCREAM all the things you don't want the public, your customers to think about you. Like you are a novice, no confidence, cheap, little substance, very little pride in your business and a corner cutter. I threw my "nice" home made cards away that afternoon and ordered some professional cards and have used them ever since. He might have been wrong but success is hard to argue with. Just my view! Ken
  4. I have an American 3-in-1 for sale. It has a new sole cutter blade, sharpened skiver blade, new paint. It looks good and is nice and tight. I will try to get a picture up tomorrow evening. If interested, the shop phone is 575-356-3628.
  5. send me an address and let me know what size you want and I will send you one. I have plenty os scrap so don't bother sending leaher. Would you like chocolate, chestnut or russett? Oh, yes, and shape. Ken
  6. That is not true!!!! I have one and it will pull a very tight stitch. Of course, you have to be able to adjust the tensions as with any machine. I saw some work that had very loose stitches several years ago and it had been sewn on a machine exactly like mine, right down to the color. Apparently he did not adjust the thread tension very well. Amazing how some Dealers will say anything to run down their competition isn't it. Ken
  7. Weaver leather, they run between $1800.00 and 1900. There are a couple of power ones bigger for not much more on Ferdco's web site. Artisan has a power splitter for not much more. Landis 6 inch crank splitter are around $500 to 750. Hope this helps. Ken
  8. I have one, had it for 8 years, Simple to use and adjust. I think it is a great machine. Even with a clutch motor it is easy to use. Put a servo and speed reducer on one and it would be AWSOME for a beginner to learn on. Book is good too. Hope this helps. Ken
  9. Thank you, Denise, I am going to take offers on it as is until Sunday and then I am going to completely restore it. I am going to put in a new padded seat, reline it, New billets and anything else I can find the least bit wrong. This is too nice a saddle not to. I don't have anything on big the next couple of Sundays . The Shop phone # is 575-356-3628.
  10. Let me see if I can make this work?
  11. I got a used 12 1/2" Porter Kid saddle come into the shop today. It is in pretty decent shape and looks like it has a lot of miles left and plenty of calf dragging or Team Roping left. It has an in-skirt rigging with different hardware than I have ever seen. Flower carved. It does need new back billets and the buckstitching on the padded seat is in rough shape. Depends on what a customer wants, I will replace the padded seat and put new sheepskin in it or sell it the way it is with just the necessary repairs and cleaning to make it ridable and safe. Billets, latigoes, a little sewing and stirrup hobbles and it can go out the door. I would put my own children or grandchildren in this saddle if I had any. It is really well made. Ken
  12. I have had makers stamps by several makers and all of them have done a pretty good job but the best one I have had was an infinity like the one pictured. It will last if lifetime if used correctly. I am currently using 2 from Steel Stamps INC. but had a problem with one of them and there are posts on this site concerning that. Stamp good but the handle is not good on one and the owner of the company did not treat me well at all. Nasty Man in my opinion! Hope this helps. Ken
  13. What would your best price be for the head and knee lifter shipped to Portales, NM 88130? COD Postal Money order. Thank you Ken

  14. AS I have posted earlier, I have a luberto's classic. Outstanding machine, easy to use. If the cub is made as well, it would be really good for a portable hand run machine. Personally, I wouldn't take a hand run machine if you gave it to me. I also have a cobra series 4, Super good machine. For the money the Series 3 cannot be beat in my opinion. Hope this helps. Ken
  15. Please call me if you still want to sell the sewing machine. 575-356-3628 Thank you, Ken
  16. I have been told that one of the advantages of the cheyenne roll is to lessen the effect of a horse rolling over on top of a cowboy. Done both, rode both like both of them if they are well done. Ken
  17. I have a Lubertos Classic that is about 9 years old. Great machine that will do a lot of neat stuff, never had a breakdown. If I were looking for a hobby machine, I would look at the Luberto Cub, If it is as well made as the Classic, it would be a look at. I also have a Cobra 4, which is an awesome machine. If it had been available when I got the luberto's classic I would have went with it. I had a couple of Toro 3000 models but I sold both of them as I moved twice and both times, someone give me within $100 of what I had paid for them. If possible, I would get a short arm version of the 441. More money, but a really good machine and seems to hold its value. Just my opinion. Hope it helps.
  18. Thanks for the post. I really like the looks of the Weaver machine but cannot justify the cost at this time. Guess I will find a shop I can borrow and build one. By the way, your edge work is the very best I have ever seen. All you do is very good. I think you should think about building a few saddles. Not a doubt, you would do well on your first try. Ken
  19. Has anyone been around the fantastic edge burnisher. Does anyone know how it compares to the Weaver unit? Thanks. Ken
  20. Call Cobra Steve, I recommend him highly. Good guy, good service AFTER THE SALE, Great Product. Not that the other guys aren't good too. I have had good experiences with Steve. Ken
  21. Check the message board on Proleptic Inc. There have been several hook and awl machines on it.
  22. I have a saddle shop and have had for a number of years. The owner of this shop should buy this saddle. This is unacceptable work. Tomorrow night I will post or try to post a couple of saddles I performed Clean and Oils on this week. You have the right to expect professional results when you take your work to someone that has a shingle hung out. I was taught that you turn down what you don't know how to do correctly. Just my opinion. Ken.

If you change out the clutch motor for a servo and put a speed reducer on it, you will tame this machine to where anyone can sew well on it. Just a speed reducer will make it a whole lot more user friendly. You will not beleive the difference. Ken
  24. I built a pair of buffalo shotguns for a customer of mine up in the badlands of South Dakota. They were about 5 oz and I could not believe how good they stood up after 4 years of hard ranch work. My customer told me they took about 2 minutes to break in and 5 oz is pretty heavy for Shotguns up there. They didn't look nearly that nice though. Bob, you are a master. Ken
  25. I got my new machine from Steve last week. This machine was set up and sewing in a very short time. It sews like a dream. His follow up has been super. Service is IMPORTANT, AND Steve is a standard for the industry. I have bought machines from Steve in the past and this machine is the best I have bought from him but the first from his company. I recommend him and his products highly. Thank you, Steve. Ken Nelson
