Can anyone tell me what the fiebings product is what you put on the leather to watter proof it? I am using veg tan to make a lot of what I do but all so use bridle shoulder and I would like to give a little extra watter proofing its mainlyon the edge after burnishing I all waysed used wax but since found out off a sadler its no good at all same as shoe pollish so what would I need guys

Hi all I have put some press studs/snaps on a pouch I have made the leather is 3mm veg tan but I have had to skive and thin the leather for them to fit and it looks sloppy the shaft just dunt go all the way through can anyone tell me what size I would be needing the caps are 12mm but shaft are tiney this is my 1st time using them so any help would be grate and taken on board many thanks kev

hi all this is mt 1st go at making a belt i normaly make dog collars but thought i would make a nice plain belt its 1 1/2" wide in black made from british bridle shoulder

hi lads i made a arm guard for a bloke on another forum he asked me to build a sheath in to it and i made a knife to go with it out of a saw blade and english roe dear antler for the handle he asked for a celtic style and i hope i have pulled it off hear it is

The woman who's machine it is did a test piece with thiner thread and it did the job on 2 bits of leather witch are 2 1/2mm thick so overall thicknes was 5mm and she sewn them together I havn't baught it yet o if it don't work she can have it back

thank you pal the brass keepers work grate nothing falls out holds it well if I am honest.The double buckle one is ok it doesn't take that long to fastern realy now I have got'n use to it the only problem I have with it îs those keepers when the dog rubs its head and neck on ya leg they don't half dig in lol other than that its a verry strong collar I see all the collars on hear are verry diferant design's to our english ones we go for the plain leather look and with our working hunting dogs its about prtection of the neck to that why I use bridle leather nice and strong

It just says its a sunstar that's all I can see on it I shal have another look to morow I have just baught some 18 of ebay going to give them a whirl if all else fails the machine will have to go back what machine should I be looking at if this one doesn't work with the thread I use

The thread is binding with a size 16 needle so maybe a size 18 or somthing like that I can feel the thread binding when I pull it through so I will do a little looking around thanks guys

the thread i use is size 10 nylon well thats what it says on the spool and the needles what came with it say size 16 i just don't no what size i would need what i wont the machine for is to speed things up for me i have a few of my collars on a post maybe that would give an idea of the size of thread i use ?

hears just a little selection of my dog gear i make and sell mainly for the hunting dogs in the uk 1st is my 1st dog harness i made on our pet rottie with tooling front and rear 2nd a few of my lurcher and whippet collars of diferant sizes a couple of tapered whippet collars one with tooling one without a 1 1/2" belt type i make and one on my dog a 3" double buckle i made for my bull x gh and a couple on our working plumer terrier 1 1/2" wide collar all my collars are made from british bridle leather

hi all i have just got my self a sun star industrial sewing machine and the needles that came with it are too small and me being new to sewing machines i don't no what size i need i can thread it just but when i atempt to sew the thread seems to gather up and snap round the eye of the needle if any of you guys can help me that would be fantastic. many thanks kev

Hi boys and girls my name is kev from the uk and I am new this site I havn't been in leatherwork that long just over a year but I realy enjoy it I have learnt my self mainly but now there is a good bloke giving me tips as he is a sadle maker I mainly make dog collars and knife sheaths but do other bit.
