  1. This seems to be a common problem. Thanks for that video, Uwe. If I turn the screw, nothing changes. Should that nut and bolt above the O's be loose or tight? It looks like you have movement there, where mine doesn't move.
  2. I haven't addressed the screw yet, but will soon. And you are correct, the previous owner said that was exactly what happened.
  3. Uwe, that would be great. Thanks for checking. Please let me know if you find something. For belts, I think I saw 3/8" belts available. Does that sound right?
  4. Evo160k, thank you very much for the play numbers! The hunt is on!
  5. Hi guys. I'm bumping this thread as this machine popped up again for sale and I went and looked and had to bring her home. Ill need a belt and the cast iron ring shown in Jimi's picture above. Does anyone have a line on one or a part number?
  6. He also sent this picture of the loose pieces.
  7. Yes, Jimi, and hopefully that would be a pretty easy fix to get that out and replace the screw. (It could happen.)
  8. Thanks guys. You are an incredible source of knowledge, and awfully kind to share it so freely.
  9. Here are a couple of pictures i got from the seller. I'll admit that i don't know what I'm looking for.
  10. Thanks for all the pictures Evo169k. He's asking 350 but said he'd entertain reasonable offers. Its about a 3 hour round trip though. Maybe I'll ask for some pictures of the race area.
  11. This is the picture from the ad. It sounds like he used it in an orthopedic brace factory.
  12. Good day all. I'm looking at a listing for a Singer 45k53 amd the listing says it needs a bobbin shuttle race. Is that something that's available? Is there anything else i should pay special attention to? Thanks in advance.
  13. They were only asking $200, so I'm kind of kicking myself, but I didn't want to have to explain to my wife that I brought another project home.
  14. Thanks for all the info. I went and looked at it and ended up passing. The motor was smoking. I probably would replace with a servo anyway, but if I couldn't really try it, I didn't want to take a chance.
  15. Hi all, I found this Singer for sale locally and thanks to the poor photos, I cannot see the model number. Does anyone recognize it? I'm looking to sew heavy-ish canvas and medium weight leather. I'm hoping to download a manual before going to look at it as even threading it could be complicated. Any advice from the experts? Thanks in advance!
  16. Amazing work. I would love to see how you make those masks.
  17. Hi all. I am working on a purse for my wife and bought some Horween Essex leather. It's like working with butter. Is there a trick to edging such soft leather? I have been trying on scraps with water, bees wax, gum trag and a hand slicker to try to get a nice clean, smooth edge, but not having much luck.
  18. I'd like to be included too. Thanks.
  19. These are awesome. Nice work, especially liked the heart.
  20. The first cut is the hardest. Take small steps. Take your time. Take a sip of whisky. You'll do fine. Post pictures.
  21. Everything got pre-punched with my humble Craftool stitching chisel. It was really tricky, and I started by putting the two gussets on the center panel. the three layers is a good half inch thick. sometimes I ran the needles through all three layers separately and then pulled tight to get it all lined up again. Personally, I think the handle is my favorite part. Again, I was winging it, but I think it came out petty comfy.
  22. Okay, I'm still not too sure about getting pictures here from Photobucket, but I'll give it a try. And keep in mind I'm giving up detail shots to help you out but they were taken with my cell hone, so you will probably see all the flaws that I hope others will overlook. Inside pockets - Tabs riveted to face and then stitched through - Handle assembled and riveted in place - The lining is all pigskin. I still need to make a strap, but I'm trying to decide if I should reinforce it with webbing or not. The leather was a double shoulder from Tandy, maybe more like 10oz. The bag weighs in at 8 pounds. I hope that help. Let me know if you have any other questions/criticisms.
  23. Both sheathes look great! For the people curious about a dangler, I used a carabiner to attach the sheath to a belt loop as a way of trying it out and actually still use it that way.
  24. Looks nice. I've been thinking of making something similar.
