I don't know if this is of interest to you, but a stamp is available from a company here in the UK. Reasonable prices and a nice personal service. http://artisans.co.uk/index.php/catalog/ Cheers Zip

Has Anyone Found A European Stitching Clamp Under $150?
El Zipster replied to DavidL's topic in Sewing Leather
As I said, I prefer to use the clam in a vertical plane so, I went for a Locking Mechanism, a parallel guide (to aid lateral stability), the leg in ash instead of saple, and the reinforced and profiled saple jaws. Oh and the magnets to rest the needles and a storage bag. Cheers Zip -
Has Anyone Found A European Stitching Clamp Under $150?

Nothing to hide here Guys, I've just had a look at my invoice. The base price for the clam was 139 euros, then you have to add any extras you might fancy. I believe it was money well spent. Depends where your priorities lie I guess. As I said, I spend a lot of time stitching, so for me it was a no brainer to have a high quality well made tool. Cheers Zip -
Has Anyone Found A European Stitching Clamp Under $150?
El Zipster replied to DavidL's topic in Sewing Leather
It's difficult to give a price because Fred offers so many variables and add ons. For example, I decided to go for a locking mechanism as I prefer to stitch with the clam in a vertical position instead of the inclined manner, then you have a choice of woods,, wrist supports, needle magnets, vertical stabilitor and so on.. If you are interested I'd fire Fred an email, he's very approachable and genuinely interested in what he's doing and won't pressure you into anything you're not ready to buy yet. I'm certainly glad I bought mine, I spend one hell of a lot of time stitching and these clams make a pleasure even more pleasurable. Hope that helps a little....... Cheers Zip -

If it's a classy stiching clamp you're after you can't get much better than one from Fred Moreau in France. I picked myself one up a couple of months ago and it's a work of art, it will last a lifetime that's for sure. Here's the link to his website http://www.crafts-design.com/content/saddlers_clamps_page.html Cheers Zip -
If the belt is not lined then I use Fiebiings Tan Kote on the back side and Resolene mixed 50/50 with water on the Front (two coats minimum), If it is a lined belt I like to leave the lining natural so just apply a finish of Resolene as above to protect it from sweat and the like. The Tan Kote works really well on the back of the belt as it slicks any fuzz as well as sealing. Cheers Zip

Thanks for your reply, the weight of the leather is 3.5mm and the guitar has standard pacifica buttons. I asked about strap locks and the guy tells me he has no intentions of using them, at least for the time being. Cheers Zip

Hi guys, Just taken an order for a strap for a Yamaha Pacifica. Anybody know the hole size to cut for the standard buttons? Cheers Zip

I'd be happy to order in multiples, quantity would depend on the price I guess, Cheers Zip

It's not a headstock button, it's the button attached to the portable strap accessory that you can buy. I've attached a photo. Hope you can help, Martin never responded to my email (surprise LOL) Cheers Zip

What Size Thread Do You Use For Hand Stitching?
El Zipster replied to leathervan's topic in How Do I Do That?
I mainly do Ukulele/Guitar straps and Belts and the odd case here and there, as a general all rounder I use 1mm thread when working at 6 to 7 stitches per inch. For more delicate stuff using closer stitch spacing reduce the thread size accordingly. Hope that helps.......... Cheers Zip -

Hi Ski Great work mate Where did you get the Spanish Veg Tan from? I ask because I've recently moved to Spain and am having difficulty in locating a supplier over here and was asking in the hope that you may have bought it from Spain. Cheers Zip -

Marking Stitching Holes In Black Or Dark Leather
El Zipster replied to biker55's topic in How Do I Do That?
I use a magnifying visor with a light mounted to it for all stitching and other close work. Works out great for me. You can pick them up on ebay for a few bucks. Cheers Zip -
No takers? Any ideas of an alternative? Cheers Zip

Le Prevo has contacted me and their version is made by 'Ivan'. I called Batchelors this morning and indeed they do have the 'Original Strap Cutter' at a very reasonable price, so, I've placed an order. Nice helpful people there! No problem with shipping from the UK to Spain. Many thanks to Matt S for the lead. Cheers Zip
