    Tote Bags

Got 10 swatches from PBD, and from the canvases I got all are really nice quality. The USA ones are top notch. I will be buying some natural canvas and other twill from them shortly. Very nice to deal with so far. And they are in California, so just a state over for me.

    Tote Bags

Pacific Blue Denims have been very friendly so far. I am waiting on their swatches right now and will be ordering some canvas from them in near future. They currently have the best prices I have found anywhere (both local and online). As for thread, I use 138 and 207 on everything. For bags that don't get a lot of pull and abuse, you don't need to go to 277 unless you like the bulky look of the thread. I do like how 207 looks, it is a good medium thickness. a lot of my products still see 138 thread. Lining would get 69 or 92 thread (whatever I have handy). Good luck!
  3. Hi guys, I ordered some 138 and 207 Solar Guard Thread from Superior Threads, and it's been sewing good, sometimes it bundles up at the needle (maybe my issue), but I am planning on purchasing a few more colors, and want to see if anyone else is using some other thread that they like better? I have not used any other brand so I cant compare. At $21 a spool it seems like a decent price, but I want to make sure I am getting good product; not that I have seen any issues with what I have right now. Thoughts?
  4. Hey guys I bought this punch the other week online, and I don't know waht I was looking at, but I got the wrong punch for my needs. I doubt I will use it so want to pass it on to someone that will. I paid 37.99 plus shipping for it. It is new and has a box. Anyone want it? give me a reasonable offer. Thank you!
  5. Well it's not just made in China aspect, but price aspect as well. I mean $55 for an edger plus $15 shipping? I am about to get a Blanchard edger for $42 with shipping. And that is a very well established brand name.. If you are entering into this market, stay competitive..
  6. I would be interested in some as well!
  7. One of most important parts of taking photos of products is to never use flash directly onto the product. Try to bounce the flash off your wall or ceiling if possible. Image below was taken on the floor of my house. I used a flash that I pointed at my ceiling. Set my exposure and took the shot. This allowed for even lighting with no hotspots on your product.
  8. Thanks! I do professional services marketing for a living, I have done lots of research on this and the video confirms what we find, and lot of internet marketing is not worth paying, unless you are investing lots of money in it. (there are always exceptions though).
  9. Thank you! I am with you on the stitching. I was using an edge guide, and it was all the way up to the walking foot. I will install a zipper foot for the next one to get closer stitch.
  10. Oh I am sure you're right, this is mainly style option that's all. Not saying your way is wrong
  11. This is great information! Thank you! I am developing some leather and canvas tool rolls right now and you have answered many questions and will save me money! Now if only I can find Otter Wax ingredients to make my own wax solution. $40 per pound is a bit much..
  12. Thanks for the link, I have reached out to Omid, he has sent me some prices, and hopefully I will be able to get something from them soon. Saw your blog too, in one post, you showed that you have natural color canvas that you dyed. Do you always dye your own or do you buy different color from pacific blue ? Also, if you don't mind sharing, what Fiber Reactive Dyes do you use?
  13. Thank you! I made it this way so that there would be no chance of cards ever falling out.
  14. Hi everyone, finished a simple money clip wallet the other day and just wanted to share 2-3 oz Hermann Oak natural leather, Homemade wax/oil mix for finish. Burnished edges. Monogrammed it later (not in photo). This was very quick wallet to make. took about 5-10 minutes. Pockets hold around 3 cards each, and money clip is good for around 10+ bills. Let me know what you think!
  15. What canvas did you use from http://pacificbluedenims.com? seems like they have denim from cone mill but not canvas? What am I missing? And is it cheaper to go plain canvas and then wax yourself or just buy pre waxed material? What is the minimum purchase of them? How many Oz is the canvas? Sorry for all the questions, but I have been researching waxed canvas for a little now, and love to hear other opinions. Great looking bag!
  16. Hi everyone, I have gotten some very nice water buffalo leather from a local supplier, and the leather is very thick - 5/8" or more, and I end up splitting it into like 3/16" or less for little pouches. The leather is very very soft, and I have hard time figuring out how to finish the edge so it looks very clean. Burnishing it does not work at all, and I applied some black edge coat and looks very unprofessional.. I have used some gum and then resoline on the edge and burnished it, and turned out okay, but still not very clean. Any advice? Here is the photo of the pouch and leather:

  19. What are the hole punches? Any oval in there? And is that a french skiver? and how much for the end punch?
  20. Hi Everyone, I have been looking for a good oval belt hole punch. I have been using round punches to make my holes, but on thicker belts, round does not work well. So I have been looking at oval punches and not sure which one is worth getting. I see that CS Osborne has 158 punches. I am guessing size 5, 6, or 7 would be what I need. Anyone use those? What size do you have, is it worth its $60 price tag? Should I get something cheaper that might be as good at CS Osborne one? Or should I give in and get one from them. Thanks!
  21. Get smooth feet for leather and you should be fine. I just got a juki dnu-241 HS, and it should be a good light duty machine. For bags, you should consider a medium duty cylinder machine to sew your bags.
  22. Oh those edgers do look sexy. I am interested in the set and I need a good beveler as well. Put me on the list, save my name and message me when you ready to sell.
