    Chromexcel

Shelley is always a pleasure to work with. Very quick to respond.
  2. You can try Shinki Hikaku if you plan on ordering extremely large quantities but I don't think they plan on taking any small business orders anytime soon. I recently contacted them at info at shinki-hikaku.jp and I received the follow response: "We appreciate for your contact. However unfortunately we can not accept any new customer. Because our cordvan production is already full. We apologized about our it." I have no pricing available for what they sell. Any alternative could be Clayton & Sons Shell Cordovan if you're fine with UK shell. You can submit an order for Horween Natural Chromexcel to john at horween.com. Pricing per square foot is as follows: - < 20 sq. feet: $12.55 - > 100 sq. feet: $8.82 - > 500 sq. feet: $8.12 - > 1000 sq. feet: $7.21
  3. Shipping really isn't that bad. I ordered two 500m rolls and shipping was only $16.
  4. I woke up at 3 am the other night and decided to work on something I have never tried before. I created the design and pattern in Illustrator and then got to work. When I finished at 6:30 am, this was the product. I'm very happy with how it turned out for it being my first time trying an inlay. There are a few spots where the stitching is too close for the inlay vs. the outside. The leather is 2 - 3 oz Horween Natural Horsehide Chromexcel and the denim is a USA Chambray Swift 12 oz indigo raw denim. Thread is natural 4 ply from Royalwood. All of it his handmade except for the burnishing in which I used a cocobolo burnishing bit. Any critiques or recommendations for when I do more inlays in the future? I have some more denim, duck canvas and wool to try doing inlays with.
  5. I've done as much possible searching as I could but couldn't find anything. I am interested in getting a relatively inexpensive sewing machine where I could be able to sew simple wallets (8 ounces max). I'm hoping to keep it under $400. Is finding a machine that can do that without leaving a foot mark on the leather even possible? Thus far I've been handstitching all my wallets and I would like to explore machine stitching for fun. I appreciate any guidance!
  6. Here is a link to the cocobolo burnishers for a dremel or drill. I highly recommend them. It makes burnishing a breeze.
  7. I'm very happy with my progress for starting leatherworking on May 1st. I'm still waiting for the arrival of the dremel cocobolo burnishers to clean up the edges a bit more.
