Bolt Action Pen Case
zoomer56 replied to zoomer56's topic in Purses, Wallets, Belts and Miscellaneous Pocket Items
Thank you Razz. The next pen case will benefit from this learning experience. My brother just picked up a pressure pot. He will be able to make is own resin infused blanks. -
Bolt Action Pen Case

The main website with all the pens made: http://www.greatsmokymountainpens.com/home.html The website to buy the pens: http://www.artfire.com/ext/shop/studio/GSMpens A Facebook presence: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Great-Smoky-Mountain-Pens/568684289841518 -
My brother is making pens and sent a bolt action pen to me. So of course I had to make a pen case for it. It has a veg tanned 3oz as the primary and a 1oz black pig skin for the secondary. It is hand sewn but a Consew 255RB-3 leather sewing machine would have made the stitching a lot better. For a first design I am pretty happy with the outcome. See video on youtube at

Thanks for the replies . . . 255RB-1.

I looked for the 33RB-2 and found a picture here http://industrialsew...Stitch Machines Looks just like the picture I took. Here is a picture of the walking foot of the machine I saw.

Thanks Bob. He showed that it did have the large bobbin. It was an impromptu conversation and he offered it at $900.

I was in an upholstery shop this afternoon just to buy some thread. During our conversation the owner said he had a machine for sale (see pic). Can anyone identify the model? Thanks.

Hello everyone, I lived in the Mojave desert for about 24 years and have recently moved to Ventura county in California. I have been working with leather on and off for about 20 years. It started with a purchase of a cheap motorcycle jacket. I never would have bought it at full price. Hah, I said to myself . . . it had fringes on the arms an across the back!!! I grew to like all that business flying around as I rode. The belt, however, was useless. This is where my leather story starts. Long story short, after tooling up with about $300 in Tandy tools and materials, building a stitching pony and putting in many hours of practice and research I created a back supporting belt with a tooled eagle on it. I still have this belt after 20 years and it is still beautiful. Since then I have made several variations of motorcycle tool bags (I like to call them burrito bags), picture frames and boxes. I really enjoyed the close up hands on tooling, painting and hand stitching. I am beginning another level of leather craft and LeatherWorker.net has become an integral part. I want to make machine sewn items such as wallets and cases. I have been looking for a sewing machine and my searches always result in links to LeatherWorker.net. This group is a major part of the world leather community. This is awesome and I have learned a lot about walking foot machines from the members here. I have enough info now to actually go into a store and look around at some machines. I am excited about purchasing a machine and laying down some stiches. Zoomer
