  1. Like electrathon said one Landis 12 G sold here in Salinas California last week for 1200 with a bunch of other machines Landis brand as well. You can buy a full refurbished one for 4000 but you can find a good used one for 500-1000 check your local Craigslist eBay has a couple Landis 12s right now. That machines is jut for sales because of the curve needle and only being able to sew around the edge. Yu can post in the wanted section here and I am sure someone will be wanting to get rid of theirs, they are very heavy tho. Check leightons website Proleptic as well. Good luck! Ralph Garcia
  2. Steve, Besides, the Singer 97-10 that saddle makers like what other Singers are sought out by saddle makers refereeing to Cylinder arm machines. I seen the one on eBay it is expensive, what needle system would this machines take. What are its abilities in the ad it states it can handle 415 thread but how thick of a material can it handle. As far as the stand i think if they were ever separated from the head they were probably scrapped. there is one for sale complete here and the other one I sent you in Oklahoma. But you never know it never hurts to ask maybe theres a stand out there that didn't make it to the dum I hope. God Bless! Ralph Garcia
  3. Nice machines, I wonder why we don't see many of those long arm cylinder Singers here in the US?
  4. Geneva, You are correct if Soccerdad doesn't buy it I'd be interested. Thank you, Ralph
  5. Looks good nice and even what kind of dye did you use? I am interested as how you got this finish. Did you use a sealrr after dyeing. Would you mind showing me your airbrush set up. Thank you. Ralph
  6. That's a really nice plough gauge and at a fair price. I wonder if it is still available? Thank you!
  7. Dandton, Have you received them yet. I have never bought anything from this company before. Are they any good I'm always skeptical when purchasing from big companies like this and alibaba. Let me know how it went and if you'll do it again? I like the patterns pretty basic but will work. I know you just has to print these out but have you bough anything front hem were shipping was necessary. God Bless! Ralph
  8. First of all Welcome to the forum you are going to enjoy yourself while learning if you stick around. As of the starter kit I would definitely go with the one from Springfield just because of the fact that it has most tools you'll need to make something, you'll get the feel of the different kind of tools and from there you can upgrade to other tools. The one from Springfield has the essentials you need for tooling also which is a lot of fun, the Tandy one is really basic and probably won't be very impressed when you receive it. Go with the one from Springfield. Have fun while doing it! God Bless! Ralph Garcia
  9. Peter, I am impressed with the whole larp thing I bet you guys have a lot of fun acting out characters of your imagination. I read how you funded your business it was a smart idea telling your bank you needed the money to renovate your home if you would if told them the truth they would of denied your application for sure. Smart man at the end you did renovate your home with the proceeds of your business. I like the crossbows they seem like a lot of fun. I've been wanting to get one to mess around with it I seen a really nice one made out of cocobolo wood but they can be very expensive. Your work looks really good, it looks like you have been doing this for some time now not everyone can produce the kind of work you are doing, I think for your kind of work you must have a very good imagination and be artistically inclined. This forum is priceless folks here are more than willing to share their tips and tricks they have acquired over the years through trial and error. The knowledge this forum provides covers many areas of leatherwork so I am sure there is someone else doing similar work as you are. Well have fun and enjoy! God Bless! Ralph Garcia
  10. Looks great! I like the variation of color in the hide. It looks well sewn and a good design overall. If you wouldn't have mentioned your mistake I wouldn't even have noticed. These well made bags beat any designer bags out there as far as durability. Take pride in your work as it is one of a kind my friend. God Bless! Ralph Garcia
  11. Hey Jack I think the best way is to line it. Think of it this way if you are using 7 oz leather then use a splitter and cut two identical pieces and split them down to 3.5 oz a piece so at the end you end up with the 7 oz you started with glue them really nice using Barge glue use a roller or the glass slicker to get any bubbles out and to compress the both pieces of leather well. I then use my shop press and press the leather. After all this is done I just think of it as a one piece of leather. I read this method from Katsass not too long ago and it works out great, for my understanding he's been doing this for years and his stuff looks tops. I just bough a Landis 30 splitter really cheap and it works out well for holsters because you are limited to 6 inches of working space there are other splitters like the Cobra it has 14 inches of working space but it is 2000+ and I only got my Landis 30 for 250. I suggest you try this out you won't be disappointed. I used to do exactly what you are doing now and that's probably the best you can make it look. You are going to be using a little more leather but you can probably ask more for them if you're selling them since they are lined holsters. God Bless! Ralph Garcia
  12. I really would know exactly what you need but if there are 3 of them in there i would check to see if a 3 inch one fits I seen one made here with a 3 inch diameter ring so I think that would work. His was made with a stainless steel ring but I think brass is much nicer when wood is varnished. Good luck! Ralph Garcia
  13. Burnishing is always worth the time. It gives the product/holster a very proffesional look. As to the lining it all depends on the type of holster and if the customer wants or have it lined. When I make a holster it I a standard to having the edges burnished no matter what unless for some odd reason the customer doesn't like it then ill leave it alone but I do not feel comfortable leaving it like that I have never done anything without burnishing. Take care! Ralph
  14. Steve is one dedicated man! How about some close ups of both side of the Randall Please?
  15. Steve, That is by far the most complete Pearson 6 I have ever seen. What should someone expect to pay for a wax pot for on eof these machines. Every machine I've seen for sale is missing the wax pot. Do you have any that you would sell? Congratulations on your purchases! Take care! Post more. It's of your latest buys.... Ralph
  16. In my previous post I suggested for you to repost the machine for 4200 I was. Wrong when I seen your last post I seen 4800 I think that's a good price to start just keep that price and list it on other places as well like Leatherpros and Proleptic.
  17. Steve, You guys go trough a lot to have these machines shipped to you. Then you have people stealing from you not good. I know nothing about shipping overseas but how does it work and why can't a machine come back to the USA or is it just too much to ship. Would a smaller item like a Junker & Ruh be able to ship from Australia to the USA and what do you think it will cost if it can be done?
  18. Again in no way are we trying to discredit this machines value, quality, or durability. It is well known that this is the best needle and awl machine ever made and still being produced. As said its is going to be hard because they do not hold re-sale value I don't know why if its the best machine out there. Think about it this way if you listed your machine at 4k it would take a while to sell but it will eventually sell if you list it for 3.5k I think you'll get it sold quick, this would be more like a distress sell, right now we have another Campbell for a little more than 3.5k and it is still sitting idle a lot of inquiries but no sale. This is the machine you'd be competing against and if I was to buy one I'd buy yours being that it is rebuilt by Campbell already not too long ago. In the other hand there has been numerous of sales on here for used 441 clones and they are selling for around 2k and 2.2k some not even being the premium package with all the attachments and tables and the seller only paid 2695 for them they are only loosing a couple hundred dollars while you have a potential to loose thousands. For some reason I don't find it fair when this machine is the cream of the crop. I thought about this all night because I read my post and maybe it sounded like I was being cheap, I'm sorry if there is anyone that appreciates these machines it's me. You should not have to take that big of a hit the last price you listed is fair for both you and the buyer. Once you have a buyer you guys can negotiate a little further. Best of luck and I hope your machine sells if you want I can spread the word around for 4200 if its ok with you let me know? The thing is clones are hot right now it's they are hot in the market, and since the demand is high resale price is good as well. Think of it this way not everyone has a Rolls Royce but everyone has a Chevy Impala you my friend have the real deal. God Bless! Ralph PS re-post your machine with good pictures, close ups of everything included and list it for 4200 be patient it'll take a little while but this is as close you can get to a new one this ones practically new.
  19. Thanks for the reply did you ever get it to sew?
  20. I agree with you 100% that the machine is worth what he's asking for but he's going to have a very hard time selling the machine because most people would rather buy a brand new clone for much less. These are the nicest machines and in no way did I mean to question the machines quality or anything similar to that. If these machines have been around for 100 years its because they can produce a beautiful stitch that no needle feed machine can copy plus it will last you a lifetime. The fact is that he's trying to sell the machine. If you were referring to the Cyclone the seller and I did not strike a deal he is set on his price and I respect that, the seller here asked for the publics opinion and I gave mine. Would you pay 4200 for this machine? It has also been on here for only a couple days it takes time to sell a machine this nice. Most people want to spend a lot less and fix it and clean it up themselves. These machines sell new for 5800 a head plus 200 for a work gauge, 600 for a stand, taxes, shipping at the end you end up paying close to 7k for the machine. I would rather keep my machine that let someone have it for 3500 these days people don't appreciate the value of these needle and awl machines value I do, I like these machines a lot but I just bought a couple of them. If yours would of been available when I first needed a machine I would have bought it no questions asked for 4200-4800 let it sit for a while it seems like you thought it would sell fast but things take time. I apologize if anything I said came out wrong, offending or depreciating your machines value I certainly did not mean to do that. Best of luck list it on Craigslist but it will take time. God Bless! Ralph
  21. Does anybody know where I can find the wax pot for a Singer 97-10? Also whats the best thing to do when it comes to needles is it to modify the 794 LR needle. Can someone give me all the options someone would have for needles when the 1000 needles are absolete. Thanks! Ralph
  22. When I seen the first price I thought it was too much but now this explains why you priced it like that. I think your machine is worth every penny I love these Campbell's Im also glad you asked for advise let me tell you what I think. Your machine is worth more than any others here selling right now because of the fact that it came rebuilt from Campbell in Texas not too long ago. I can tell it was because you mentioned it and it is properly painted by them with that blue color they use. As far as price there are a lot of variables that affect the price. I have seen machines sell for 800 and as much as 4k for a used Campbell but its pretty rare when someone pays 4k for a machine that is used. People will rather buy a 441 clone with al l the bells an d whistles for 2695 and that's delivered to you. You might be able to sell your machine for 3500 but your still up against the clone. The 441 is a much more versatile machine that can sew various textiles while the Campbell is limited to leather. If I were you I'd price the machine at 3500 and I bet it will sell I don't know if you want to go this low but I think you'd have a good chance of selling it, remember the buyer has to still pay for shipping. That can cost anywhere from 300-500 dollars that puts your machine at 4k again. Think about all the info I have given you re price your machine and I hope it sells. This week I had access to 8 Campbell, Randall's, Landis 3 all ranging from 800-3000 the ones selling for 3k were rebuilt as well and sold by gentlemen that have been doing this for years. The Randall's were mostly at around 800-1200 and the Landis 3 from 2-3k so your competing with lots of other people too so price it competitively or you might just want too keep it. Best of luck! Ralph
  23. That's a beautiful machine is it still available also whats your asking price.
  24. Your right I am not sure what it is ill take a look and post it as soon as I can. Thank you! Ralph
