  1. Steve, Check this out you might enjoy it. Ralph http://parts.singerco.com/IPpartCharts/123W.pdf
  2. Steve, I am talking with some guy about a Lanids 3 For Sale I had good leads on some really cheap ones but they have sold now. This new lead has rebuilt his Landis 3 and has the original stand that these machines sat on before they even had motors on them it's sort of like a bicycle pedal one but this one you just move your foot up and down and this is how it power your Landis 3 he does want a pretty penny for it but its worth it being all original. I will let you know what happens with this one. Take care! Ralph
  3. I live in Salinas CA about 1 hour south of San Jose and 3 ours south of San Francisco I think you make 25k here on a minimum wage job. Cost of living is definitely more expensive here but a Police Officer is well paid and well trained here, they have the newest weapons, newest vehicles, and latest technology. Ralph Put even tough they have the newest of everything we have about minimum 20 murders a year.
  4. Jack, First of all thanks for your service, you are right police officers are underpaid especially in small rural towns. A police officer here in Salinas CA makes anywhere from 80-120 thousand a year. But their reputation keeps getting worse we have had police officers encarcerrated for sex crimes. Actually we have had several of them even for rape, embezzlement, wrongful deaths. Look up our town and the reputation our department has is embarrassing. Ralph
  5. Good job! He will definitely refer you to his buddies. They love to have gear that stands out so I bet you will be having more orders soon. I wish I could sell them a holster but cops here in Salinas are not the nicest people. They are set on busting gang members when they themselves act like one. I am glad you get along with the police in your town I just wish the police in my town was more civilian friendly. If you like making holsters you couldn't have gone to someone better than cops. God Bless! Ralph
  6. Steve, Definitely I am thinking about seeing the collection next year I have never traveled anywhere that far and this would be worth it. That seems to be the way life works when you really want something and need it it's very hard to acquire but when you don't really need it it's relatively easy to get. Even better as there are still about 5 important machines you need to add to your collection hope this gets you eager enough to hunt them down. The ones I have not seen for sale yet are. Bauers and Bosworths other than that I think I've came around every other machine for sale at a fair price with the Cyclone being the most expensive. Just don't sell a machine you don't have another of or one with a complete heating element because those are very very rare and when someone has them they are usually a barn find and want a pretty penny for it. The Pearson here for sale was now reduced 3500 still a little too much it does have a hearing element but I do not believe its complete. Maybe someday it'll become affordable when seller realizes no one will pay that much for it. Well the best for all! Ralph
  7. I have not done it on the 441but I am sure it can do it I seen a video on youtube today of the Cobra Class 4 sewing through a California license plate and right next to it there was a piece of plywood sewn with black thread so I am sure the 441 can handle kydex. The Campbell Lockstitch can sew through a copper penny so it can sew a kydex sheat for sure. Both the Cobra Class 4 and the Campbell Lockstitch are great machines if used properly. Ralph
  8. The instructions manual will answer most questions anyone has about the Cobra Class 4 I often read it over and over and I always pick up something new or it reminds me of something that I need to do first when operating this machine. Al Bane has a good video of the Cobra Class 4 and there are several others I think Leather Machine Co. Has one too almost 30 min long if I'm correct. These videos and manuals are very useful, when you have old machines you have to rely on the manuals you have since there are no dealers selling Landis 1, 3, 16, Champions, Pearsons and so on. Cobra owners are really lucky to have Steve around to answer all our questions but it s not always going to be this way so we need to be proactive and save our manuals and any documentation for our machines they will come in handy in the decades to come. Thanks Steve for the custoner service you provide with the sale of your machine I didn't have the luxury of purchasing mine new but I know if I ever need your help your just a phone call away most times I resolve my troubles by reading the owners manual or watching a video on you tube. God Bless! Ralph
  9. Chuck, Really nice cases how long does it take you to complete one of these from start to finish. Like I said they just look amazing. God Bless! Ralph
  10. Dirtclod, I have a Cobra Class 4 which I bought used, a Campbell Cyclone, a Pfaff 145 and just bought an Adler 30. I do a lot of my work at a long time friend of mine he has several machines mostly needle and awl machines old ones. I also use a Juki pro 2000 which is the machine they made the 441 clone after at his place. I am searching for other Needle and awl machines which are my preference, I really don't use the clone that much but that's the machine I started using. The reason why I know about these machines is because of personal experience and I spend hours every day researching old machines. Like I said mostly needle and awl machines but since I have a clone I wanted to learn all about it as well. You can learn pretty much everything to a machine if you have the owners manual and if you don't you can always find it online. I don't have years experience with sewing machines but I tend to figure out everything fairly fast through the owners, parts, and mechanics manuals. Don't get me wrong I still need to learn a lot from these machines but I think everything I have stated or contributed to this forum is based of experience that I have had with machines. Steve (Singermania) and I share our manuals and whatever helps us understand needle and awl machines better. My family also owns an upholstry shop in Baja California. The box is fairly simple a wooden box lined with galvanized roofing sheets. First time I seen this was in a Saddle Shop here in Salinas they closed it down several years ago if it were still open I'd be over there trying to learn the saddle making trade, making a saddle is much more complex than making a holster and eventually that's what I want to learn how to make. To clarify I don't know everything about every machine but I would like to its always good to know what your working with if you don't know much about the tool your using then you shouldn't really use it until you learn how to properly operate it that's how machines tend to malfunction because of operators errors. If you have any other questions let me know. Hope this helps. God Bless! Ralph
  11. Yes the best thing to use is newspaper it is very easy to tear off when your done sewing a lot of people use it on flatbeds when their marerial is not feeding properly when using newspaper your piece will slide very easily this method helps a lot. Good luck! Ralph
  12. That's correct the Cobra can even handle #69 thread on too and bottom use a practice piece first the same thickness as what your final product if the stitching needs adjusting then just adjust the top tension it shouldn't need much adjusting honestly. Good Luck! Ralph
  13. So did you end up selling the machine or is it still available? Ralph
  14. Nice work. Like the two tone going on. Do you hand stitch or use a sewing maxhine if so what kind of machine are you using? Keep up the good work! Ralph
  15. Steve, That is a sweet machine, I yet need to see one with its kerosene lamp. Do you have any? Thanks for sharing these pictures with us it's not like whe can see them anywhere else. I think we can officially call you the Pearson Man. God Bless! Ralph
  16. Is this left or right twist is it for hand or machine sewing. Thank you! Ralph
  17. Steve, That's a nice find, yes you are correct I mean to say Singer 97-10. I have gotten 0 responses but will wait and see also posted on Leatherpros and Proleptic. Steve, if I'm not mistaken you have a Seiko CH series (441) how's the stitch any better than the clone? Ralph
  18. Look for a Consew 206rb5, or a pfaff 145, Pfaff 545' Pfaff 1245, or something similar to these machines you can find them relatively cheap on Craigslist. Good Luck! Ralph
  19. Pounder, If there's a repair manual for this machine the only person that will have it is Singermania so give him a try. He's a really nice guy and collects these machines I am sure if he has it he's willing to share a copy with you, by the way his name is Steve. Good Luck! Ralph
  20. Very nice look. The only thing I would of done differently is stitched the straps, but then again you migh of been after that look anyhow it looks really nice. God Bless! Ralph
  21. I am looking to buy a Landis 3, Campbell Lockstitch, Randall, these are my first choices but will also consider the following Union Lockstitch, Landis 1, Landis 16, Pearson 6, Champion Narrow or Wide Throat, Bauer, A1, Pilot, singer 97-19 and a Landis 30 splitter. If you have any of these machines and are willing to sell at a fair price please PM me price, pictures and location, I am in California so seller must be able to ship. Thank you! Ralph
  22. Nutting, Like you said stitching needs improvement if I'm not mistaken you used two different colored threads, I tend to stay away from doing this because the finish product does not look right. It makes it more visible for blemishes on your stitching. That's all I would improve on. Try Tandy's see if they have the pricking tool you need if not i would suggest one from Joseph Dixon or someone up there with quality, remember this is a tool that is very essential and if you buy it from a quality tool maker you will only be buying it once. God Bless! Ralph
  23. Matt, You are right that is one big gun, did you want the color natural like that. I would have dyed it if it was mine for some reason I do not like light colored hides but if that's what you like it's still a nice rig. I tend to stay away from light colors because they are easier to stain and get dirty. Overall a very nice solid rig. Keep up the good work! Ralph
  24. Barney, That's a cool looking holster it is nicely formed and I love the dying it looks antiqued a little. I really like that. From what I see your edges look well burnished it even looks like this holster was made some time ago. Keep up the good work! Q: what do you use to burnish your edges? God Bless! Ralph
