I recently came across an older gentlemen wanting to get rid of all his sewing machines. Most of them had like 5 threads or something like that well I don't need those machines but if you do I can give you this gentlemen s number. There was only two machines that I liked one was a Singer Class 7 no reverse, and the other which I liked the Adler he didn't have a model number but I know you guys will. I think he told me the Adler was a double needle but I am not sure. What are these machines used for? Can I still find parts for them? What are they worth in this condition they are all running the Adler has a quo rotan motor or something like that. Thank you guys all help is welcome! GOD BLESS! Ralph\

My Latest Rig
RoyalLeatherDesigns replied to Matchlock's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
That is nice..... One of the best ones I've seen. The finish on it looks great nice and bright. What kind of dye did you use? How did you seal it? -

You are right I myself got fooled before, now that I got into leather working it be a little harder I think, it happens...... I was 18 and thought I was buying my girlfriend a quality purse little did I know it was a complete fake. It's just getting harder and harder to distinguish between the vinyl and real leather. I have learned now and if I wanted to give my girlfriend a purse I would just make her one now, but of course my old girlfriend would think I'm crazy since she's all into fashion but I don't care that's why we are not together anymore. Totally went of topic .....lol but seriously some young people do not appreciate the art anymore I know a purse that is made by a leather craftsmen will last you a lifetime even if you use it every day in the other hand one of those other fancy purses will only last you a couple months. Ralph GOD BLESS!

Sorry to hear about your limitations if you were a little closer I'd go set it up for you and help you on anything you need as I can always learn from more experienced members like yourself. I have my physical problems too I was involved in an accident and had to get my right kidney removed, my spline and part of my pancreas also. I am only 27 years old and I picked up leather as a form of relaxation I find tooling to be very relaxing and you get a great sense of accomplishment when you get something done it is the most rewarding thing I have ever been involved with. I used to have a construction company and was doing really well up until the accident I was hospitalized for six months and lost over 100 pounds. I can tell you I rather stick with leather than construction in my opinion. Tell your friends about me see if they can help me out with some tips and tricks of the trade. I will try to upload some pics of projects I have completed trying to make my profile a little more interesting, do you have any old school tricks, such as casing your leather, edge burnishing or anything that will get me going. Just trying to pick your brain..... GOD BLES! times only get better with a positive outlook in life.......

I have seen this website too, I believe this is a listing service and you most likely have to purchase a whole lot of the item or items. For example when I was looking for my first sewing machine this website came up through google. I contacted one of the brokers because I seen a Used Consew 206 rb-2 for $ 200, well when I finally got a respond from the broker via e-mail he said that I must purchase the whole lot of sewing machines wich was close to 500 of them they came from a factory that had closed overseas. So basically you buy the whole contents of the container. It did not seem fraudulent at all but I think this is more for like big companies that buy 100s if not thousands of the same item or lots of a certain product for re-sale. I am almost sure you cannot buy 1 item from the lotl if so it is too good to be true. I hope this helps I would not buy from them just because of the fact that it's a very large sale.

I am a little confused I am fixing to purchase a press but there are so many of them and different setting dies and I don't know if they are interchangeable between other presses like the setters that they sell at Tandy will they fit other presses or are they made just for the little wonder. I seen the little wonder on Tandy, it seems like it's well made but the dies are really expensive, If I purchase the press and all dies it totals out to over 1500 that is way too much I have no problem buying it if I know that I am going to use it all but I don't think I will. What do you guys think about buying a harbor freight tools arbor press and several dies from knifekit.com and making a mod to press to make it work. I know I will definitely be using line 20, line 24 and rapid rivet as well as double cap rivets, does a regular line 24 setter work for pull the dot snaps. Do you guys know of a press that is more versatile and where the dies are not that expensive. I would love a foot press but the cheapest one I seen was 995 all I am going to be doing is setting snaps should I just mod the arbor press. Please advise. GOD BLESS! (Any ideas are greatly appreciated)

Patching Sewing Machines
RoyalLeatherDesigns replied to RoyalLeatherDesigns's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
But you would save a lot of time if you did it if the boot was finished and it is something that you wanted to do after the fact. I checked the Cowboy patcher and it does take thread #138 meanwhile the Cobra only takes #69. We should probably ask Steve about this. -
I was surprised when I seen the specs on the Cobra Patcher and the thread size it took was # 46 to #69 why not a more than that. I would imagine that you would want to use a thicker thread if you were going to sew a design on some boots right or am I wrong or thread #69 is usually used. Can you use thicker thread on these machines surpassing the specs or is it not possible or recommended. Cobra Class 29-18 Patch Machine features a 18" Cylinder Arm. Will sew leather and fabrics up to 1/4" (20 oz) in thickness. Ideally suited for stitching on patches and emblems. Presser foot turns in 360 degrees which allows the machine to sew in any direction. The large Balance wheel can be mounted either on the end of the main shaft or on the front of the machine. All backed by our "Limited Lifetime Warranty". Specifications: Shoe Patch Machine 18" Arm Big Bobbin 46 or 69 Thread 5-25 SPI Sews up to 20 oz Digital D.C. Servo Motor Heavy Duty Speed Reducer Pedestal Stand on Wheels Accessories

Question Regarding Mauls
RoyalLeatherDesigns replied to RoyalLeatherDesigns's topic in Leather Tools
Thanks guys! So 12 16 and 32 oz are the ones most used -
I am left to think where do I buy my supplies. I am in California and I have been doing a lot of online shopping and all companies will not ship their products to California. I am referring to the Fiebings Oil Dye, Wyo Sheen and all kinds of other products that are essential to leather crafting. How do you guys do it? I came to think of ordering these products to a relatives address in Arizona and she then bring them to me, but then I thought this could be illegal. So is their a legitimate way of doing this or do we have to compromise. If so please recommend products that replace the originals which I am not happy with. For example I heard the adhesive that is California compliant is no good. What is your input on this topic I know there has to be other hide pounders in California. Thank you! GOD BLESS!

I am a newbie and would like the help from a more experienced leather worker. I am fixing to buy some mauls, I heard from various people it is much more comfortable on the wrist and you often get better results vs hammers. Well my question is what weights would you buy. I want to buy all I am going to need now because I am able to now and don't know if I will tomorrow. So I don't have a problem buying 3 or 4 of them. I know they can be around 70 to 80 dollars each. If anybody knows where to get a better price without compromising the quality let me know the site. Please don't forget to recommend the weights of the mauls I need to purchase. Thank you, Ralph GOD BLESS!
