Hi Jenny from Kansas, USA. Welcome aboard. I myself am pretty new on here & love it. So much information to be shared! I'm sure you'll find answers to any/all questions you may have. Also don't be shy to add your "2 cents". Looking forward to seeing your work Andy

Ol' Waylon (Jennings) would be proud to own this one too!... Beautiful work!

Love this design! Simple yet 100% effective. Wish I'd saw this before I made mine.

I have stitched everything without a stitchin horse up until recently. Now that I have one (made it myself) I don't know why I didn't do that 1st! So convenient...and no more charlie horse in my leg! P.S. I do punch holes ahead of time but with the horse it doesnt matter

Hi Randy. I see you're in LaCygne. I'm through there quite often. Maybe I could catch up with ya

Very nice job! Mine is of plywood scraps given to me by my cabinet-maker friend- it cost about the same but nowhere near as ingenious as yours! A beautiful piece of work.

Beautiful work!! -
Awesome job! Very inspiring! I am an artist myself- though not professional- and have enjoyed great success with pencil medium. I haven't drawn much in the last couple years & dont claim to be as good as you but your work may have given me the kick in the seat I need to work more with carving aspect. Thanks for sharing!!

My latest knife sheath
AndyH replied to Grunt's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
Do or have any of you used rawhide as liner? I have on a few custom "buckaroo" sheaths ( in my gallery is one- light body w/ black edging). I only took the rawhide as high as the pommel/ guard & slit the leather to slide top edge of rawhide into & glued it. Seemingly alot of work but fun experimenting. The rawhide is also stitched between outer layers. Anyone have thoughts/comments on this? All input appreciated -
Tim I just checked out Rose Saddlery's site- phenomenal work! I am a lover (& user)of old hiback saddles. I have 2 I use & an old Heiser slick fork I plan someday to rebuild

Nice work!! I have yet to make a pair from start to finish but only hope I do half as good as you. Your friend should be proud to wear 'em! -
Black sharpies... when I was 1st shown that by my friend Kyle, owner of Circle M Saddle Shop in Prescott, KS I laughed for days. Now I have a large supply of them for use myself! Thanks Bruce! Thanks Kyle! Also have been experimenting with paint markers I found in the craft section at WalMart. They're about $2 apiece, come in all basic colors, & last a long time. I've been using them on some of my edges, which I afterwards wax & hand rub.

Hello Tim. Hello Robert. I will definitely check out Rose Saddlery- it would be great to watch/ learn more. I do work for a saddler nearby occasionally- mainly repair & small fabrication. And have a good working knowledge of their construction. Hope one day to build one completely. Thanks for the info Tim & for the welcome Robert. So glad to be a member!

I know this is an old thread but still of great help to a novice like me. Just finished my 1st attempt at arrowhead basketweave. Wish I had read this little tip first! Such a simple but wonderful idea! I actually "camouflaged" my center with large seeder stamp.Gotta say once again I love this site! So much knowledge & so many great ideas

Hi all. I'm in southeast KS, new to this site & relatively new to leathercraft. I grew up riding horses (before I could walk), later training horses locally, did short stint riding bareback in smalltime rodeos, moved to KS & worked for trailer conversion company building custom living quarters, also building horse trailers. Now I am able to devote time to my family & leatherwork!
