Thanks guys...on my way to HD soon to see if I can find some.....Lowe's is right across the road...but if there's a place to order them from, I'd like to know too. Thanks again!

Just so I get this.....by screwing the snap in, it allows you to loosen it in order to adjust the angles of the straps? Is that it? (rather than using the rivet fastener that comes with line 24?) Is this what yours looks like under the snap?

Messenger Bag
Rayban replied to AndyL1's topic in Purses, Wallets, Belts and Miscellaneous Pocket Items
You may surprise yourself and decide that your first effort is just fine. Mine will be more of a "man purse", so nothing special has to fit just so...... This past week-end I was at a leather show walking around with my cell in one hand, and my camera in the other....picking up stuff, buying stuff.....caught myself thinking...I need me a damn man purse!! -

GREAT looking bag...everytime I see a cool bag like that I think I have to make one for myself.....so that does it....I'm making me one......someday......maybe...... -
I entered this rig in a regional leather show this week-end, and the judges liked it too! It was my first time entering a show, so it was kinda thrilling....like 2 seconds of fame!!

Avenger - Kimber Custom & G26
Rayban replied to olliesrevenge's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
Nice work! I am a big fan of the Avenger style, and you seem to have it down. I haven't made many holsters so bear with me on this question. I tend to want to bring my pouch up to, or close to the front sights, then taper/curve it down to below the trigger guard. You have yours cut much lower....almost looks like it's top-heavy with gun. Is there a specific reason for doing it this way? Or just preference? Anyway, again, really nice work. -
Particle...I'm about to try my first IWB. You mentioned in your OP that the holster was a little thick because of where you installed the straps. I'm planning on putting them on either side of the holster, on what I call the "wings", as I'll start out with a basic pancake type pattern. Question about the snaps themselves...are they just your regular line 24 snaps, or is there something special about them.....I was wondering if you could take a picture of them unsnapped so I could get a better visual on how they are installed. I'm also planning a stop at Cabelas where they have several holsters I can check out. As always, thanks for your help.......your finishing is of the level I hope to achieve someday. R

Help Me Build This Holster
Rayban replied to rccolt45's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
What I timely thread, I love the Avenger style holster (your inspiration) I made for myself, but I've been thinking of making a clip-on type , so that I don't have to un-do my belt when I go into a place where CC is not allowed. -
First Try At Making A Holster (Fail)
Rayban replied to Kring's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
I too wondered how ya got the boning so deep....with such thin leather, it's now clear. I haven't made lots of holsters but I use 8-10oz...thinking they will hold up longer. I'm not able to get all the boning lines that some people like to see, but I believe the retention I'm able to get out of it will hold up longer. -
Help Me Build This Holster
Rayban replied to rccolt45's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
I'm not sure if this can help you much, but I made this one for someone who wanted to attach his own Kydex clips, and all he was going to do was drill holes at the"just right" place on the wings, and screw the clips on. He wanted to continue to wear his current holster with the clips on them, and when I handed him his new one, he just swapped them over . As it turns out, it's more of a production business more than anything. Not much in the way of supplies. He has quite an internet business selling guitar straps and rifle slings, and other things. I'm glad I stopped by there however, Doug is a nice fella, and easy to talk to about leather crafts in general. It's : M & M Leather www.mandmproleather.com 1276 S. Linden Rd. Pancake Crossdraw Sheath
Rayban replied to MADMAX22's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
Very nice construction...and good idea on the retention strap. Only thing I'm wondering about is, it looks like you have about 4" of handle riding above the belt line. Wonder how you're gonna like that. Of course, if it sits just at the right place, you may not feel it at all. Let me know please. Rg -
Where Do You Buy Your Belt Clips?
Rayban replied to lspiers's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
Thanks KMAN...meanwhile I'm ordering a sheet of 12 x 12 x .125.....I've been thinking about such a clip for some time now and after this thread, I believe it's something even I can do. -
Where Do You Buy Your Belt Clips?
Rayban replied to lspiers's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
KMan....is there and ideal width of clip when using 1/8" thickness? Also, I picture using a 1/4" bar or something to form the bend at the top of the clip...here again, what is the ideal size rod to use?? Thanks!! -
...Particle....I do hope you consider that copying is the sincerest form of flattery...or something like that.... Just finished this one up...been test driving it around the house and feels pretty good. On the next one I'll make the strap on back a little wider, but other than that, I'm pleased with it....

After a couple emails requesting prices and pictures I have to ask...have you changed your mind about selling mauls and mallets ?

The owner tells me everything fits perfectly, so that makes my day.

I'm not sure what a Glock has to do with it, but if that's what you do, then cool.....as much as that gun rides high in the saddle, I'm wondering what kind of retention you'll have as it breaks in. Seems to me that style of holster has to be wet molded to the gun.......but then you would lose the stamping. Btm line, as I see it, stamping and that style of holster don't go.... You've used a stamping I really like, but the corners look....well....kinda void, like something is missing. Maybe a star or something would help.

Avenger - Glock 19
Rayban replied to particle's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
I haven't made many holsters, do you believe the reinforcement piece in necessary for a smaller gun, like the PPK? -

I was wondering the same thing....hope to see his response soon.......but I'm really liking his work! Also, about the vacuum bag......where to get one, etc......I'll go ahead and do a search, but if anyone comes along and points me in the right direction, I won't mind. Should be good for knife sheaths too, right?? -
Snake, there's a non-Tandy leathercraft store off of I-69 near Flint. I'm going there tomorrow. I'll let you know what I see.
