Mercury Model M-120-1 has been recently reconditioned by a sales and service sewing machine company near Toledo Ohio. I bought it last Spring thinking I was going to make shorter work of the projects I do, but it turns out I end up hand stitching everything I do, so this machine must go. Mercury is an off-shore copy of some model of Singer, which one, I'm not sure. Some of you may be able to tell by looking at it. The table and machine were new when I bought it, the machine is in excellent shape and works great. I just don't use it enough to justify owning it. $700 firm, p/u only in SE Michigan. Any questions, or want more pictures, please email me at rickg48@bex.net.

I had a similar situation recently....I took a piece of 4-5oz. over to his place, we wrapped the gun in plastic, wet formed the leather around it, and puff....I had my pattern. I went home and made the holster out of 8-10oz. based on the pattern, it turned out just right.

Need help making sheath
Rayban replied to airplaneguy's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
Are you near a Tandy store? Pick this book up. It will show you how to make several different sheaths, plus it's loaded with all kinds of useful leather working info. -
That is indeed the Katsass!! Frank, get to Tandy and get Al Stohlman's " How to make Cases" It's a three book set and the first one will show you all you need to know to make you a buttcover. I insist it'a must have book for anyone who wants to learn leather work.

Panch.... I doubt you'll find an actual pattern...how bout you wrap paper around yours and cut out your own pattern. You can do a simple lacing job instead of hand stitching. Try searching "buttcovers" here.

That's a great looking work of art!! The pool halls I frequent, I would have to strap that to me so it wouldn't "walk out".

See ya this afternoon....so sorry I can't be around tomorrow. -
One of the companies I do work for claim that they can print on anything that will lay flat. They have several different large format, flat bed digital printers...I've seen them print on stone, glass, foam core, plexi, vinyl, etc.......I'll ask what they think of leather...... Personally, too gimmicky for me.

First holster finished
Rayban replied to medicdave's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
Medic.....looks like a good solid piece of leather. Good job..... My take on lining...looks nice but if your rig is to be a user, so what if a little blueing rubs off? But then again, if you stitched all around the piece like you have, adding a liner to the next one won't be much work for ya. You may end up doing what I have in the past...made a piece with the intention of it being a "sample/experimental/trial run" then having it turn out so good that I never felt the need to make another. In short, I likie!! -
Rusty, I visited your site and I really like your fly rod cases. I know those are not very easy to make, and you do em good! My son lives in Monument and just got himself a new rod......guess what I'll be making soon.
