I have a drill burnisher coming in the mail; i can't wait. I would also like to add "dip dying." I just started doing this and when I'm dying say 5-10 wallets this is a huge time saver. My results are also more even and there's less waste. No brainer. Anyone else???

So what are your time saving tips? I'm NOT talking about cutting corners here, just things that have made you much more efficient. The biggest for me have been when I started using a stitching pony rather than just holding the wallet in my hand, and using a clicker press and dies. What saves you time?

I second waterhouse. I usually only use veg tan, but I just today ordered some "brown pull-up double shoulder" that looks real nice for $5.60/sq ft. according to the website they'll skive it for free, so I asked them to thin it from 5oz to 3oz. We'll see how it is!

The hardness of the beeswax in comparison to paraffin offer me: 1. a better bonding effect; I don't use any glue 2. added rigidness to my edges for added durability 3. better water resistence 4. the amount of shine i'm looking for The only draw backs I'm aware of is that you can't dye the edge after burnishing (which I don't do), and it is harder to apply (I get around this by warming it with a heat gun before application. Hope this helps

have you ever used bag kote? Do you have anything to compare it to?

Fiebing's makes some of the most popular finishes used by leather workers today. They also have something like, I don't know, 10? finishes to choose from. I was hoping one of the old timers could enlighten us to the comparative results. I have always used bag kote, and I like it, but I don't like the idea that one of the other choices would suit my purposes better. I want to try some of the others, but I don't want to go at it COMPELTELY blind. The info provided by Fiebing is pretty vague. If we get some good replies this thread would make a very useful sticky. Thanks all!

Parafin is much much much softer than beeswax. It applies much easier, but I get better results finishing my edges with beeswax.
