Hey Chief, I have a related question...I just bought some of that calf lace from Tandy (this will be my first attempt at lacing anything). I have a 3/32 lacing thong that is angled. I bought 3/32" lace thinking that the sizes should match. Will that combination still work or should I return the lace and get 1/8"? Also, are there any good tutorials out there for newbies?

Yeah they won't cut into the sides. You gotta order a whole side. I have a bit of black essex but not enough to cut you a strap or else I would in a heartbeat.

Iphone baby! They are very nice. Sharp and very durable right out of the box. They feel much higher quality than the craftool chisels from Tandy.

That looks really nice! That's a ton of stitches! 9sti? I love that lock. I have to say it though. The nylon strap really doesn't go with how classy the rest of the bag is. I nice adjustable leather strap would really take it to the next level. Overall though great craftsmanship and a beautiful bag. EDIT: the only other small critique I have is stitching around the flap. I think it really looks nice and makes the bag look more finished and uniform. Please remember these are small critiques. You should be very happy with that bag. I would love to see more pictures of the top and sides of the bag!

Decided I'd post up some stuff b/c hey why not! Here is a CS Osborne 8sti pricking iron and a Seiwa 5sti stitching chisel:

See though what Macca was saying was correct. For that iron to give you seven stitches per inch it should have 8 prongs to an inch. It does not appear that way to me from the pictures.

It takes two holes to make a stitch. So if you have 7 holes in a one inch span you got six stitches.

I think he needs to center the slits on the line instead of lining it up at the outside edge. That would help a bit but you are right that seems pretty off.

Depending on the price I would be interested.
