  1. Wow. Nice job. Can't wait to see the finished project.
  2. Greg, Another option is make an OWB holster. Belt loops and everything. But leave enough holster area above the belt slots to add a couple of straps using Chicago screws. I don't usually make IWB. But I have made many of this type. I call it convertible holster. Gives the option of IWB or OWB.
  3. Greg,If you have the pistol, I bet you could make the pattern. Use a file folder to make your rough pattern. Use masking tape to assemble the file folder pattern. Once you think you are in the ballpark make a holster with scrap leather, such as belly. If your stitch lines are not tight enough, you can always add an extra stitch line. Good luck, Jeff
  4. The pattern is from Al Stohlman's book on Making Holsters. The pattern is a little small for modern folks. Folks did not spend as much on food back in the 1950's as we do today.
  5. I finally finished my personal basket weave stamped shoulder holster. This is for my K frame snub. Wears great. Conceals great.
  6. I just got my Bob the punching dummy from my son. Yeah!
  7. Looks like a good hunting/hiking rig. I hate modeling my holsters too. I used to have a Bob the punching dummy that I used. But my son confiscated the dummy. So now I'm the dummy.
  8. No fair. I want to see you wearing this puppy! Good looking work as usual.
  9. I made a left handed shoulder holster for a Ruger SP101 3 inch. I used the Al Stohlman pattern from the book Making Holsters. I really like the old school look. Be aware. If you use the Stohlman pattern, folks were a lot smaller back in the fifties. The pattern has to be adjusted for modern day folks.
  10. I use a piece of deer antler. I use a spray bottle to wet the leather. Then I use the piece of antler to rub out the marks and press the stitches. I think a sharpie will work too.
  11. I do not believe the double stitching does anything for the integrity of the holster. I have used glue only on a pocket holster that holds up fine. A single row of stitching is all that is needed. But, I said all that to say this, if you have the time for the double stitches, your holsters sure look good.
  12. Looks good. I really like the stamping under the vanity piece. Nice touch.
  13. Hey Glockanator. That holster looks familiar. Did you make the pattern?
  14. Hey that turned out pretty slick. I have made several of these for large revolvers too. Hope the picture I sent helped.
  15. Excellent. As usual those holster really pop.
  16. I think you could make anything look great on a rig. I'm not into skulls and such but you sure made a great looking rig.
  17. I'm not sure either. I usually do not make belts that thin. How long was the belt in service? Was the belt used for concealed carry? I am asking for my own edification. Hope it does not sound like the 3rd degree? In my opinion, the quality of leather has dropped over the last couple of years. I don't think it is H.O.'s fault. I believe the world wide demand for leather is causing a little quality issue.
  18. Did you use back? Shoulder? I try to use backs and I try make the billet end from as close to the spine and rear of the hide as possible. I live in Colorado Springs. But I am a transplant. Go "Hawks!"
  19. Just add another stitch line if you are not close enough on the first go. To make it look balanced add an extra stitch line to the outside of the other stitch line. Hope this makes sense. I think you are on the right track. Nice going.
