The hubby and I bought 2 leather vest and they are rather dry. What is the best thing to rejuvenate the leather? I will be sewing patches onto the leather at some point also.

I was asked to make an eye patch for a friend. What type of glue should I use as the outside Im going to use a 2 to 3 oz veggie tan and a pig skin lining.

Has anyone used a criut or cut ‘n' boss for embossing 2-3oz leather? I was wondering how well they work? As I was hoping to start using pieces to make inlays for journal covers, but if it doesnt work I dont want to spend $300 for the cut 'n' boss as it uses most of the embossing plates from other machines. I tried looking it up in the search bar with no success.

You have a good start, so keep up the good work.

Beautiful work, Im sure the customer will be very pleased.

Awesome design and stamp work. Question for you though. Is the liner a cloth liner? If so how did you secure it to the leather without soaking the fabric and making it tacky when it dries? Ive tried using a white glue and after the glue dried for 24 hours the fabric was tacky/sticky.

What thickness linen thread do you use for making leather journals, 2,3,7 strand? Where do you get your linen thread for making journals? I would like to make my friends and family some leather journals and I am unsure of what to use for thread. Every tutorial that I can find on the internet says to use linen thread but doesnt say what thread count or where to get it from. Would Tandys waxed nylon work just as well or would the knots work loose because of the nylon. Here is the nylon thread Im talking about, http://www.tandyleatherfactory.com/en-usd/home/department/Lacing/1227-038.aspx Help please. Thanks, Serena

I think that you maybe being a little to hard on yourself. It looks great, I would use that for a Fairy/Elf or even a Ranger costume for Renaissance fair. What you are calling inconsistant I call part of the craft, as a few have said before if it was dead on it wouldnt look right. Just my 2 cents. -
Tandy Leather has a pattern sheet for making roses, and the last time I went to my nearest shop they had classes they were offering on how to make them.

Thanks for help. I found a website that sells mugs like the one that I saw but Im not sure if it is the same seller or not. I would like to make my own mug for personal satifaction. Here is the site I found: http://www.renasleat.../glasswear.html

What type of glue would you use to glue leather to a glass? One that you would plan on drinking out of? Super glue? Barge Cement? What kind should I use? The leather looked to be a deer hide or suede (I wasnt able to get an up close look as I was helping another customer). The reason I ask is that I was vending coffee at a renaissance fair this past weekend and a customer had a glass mug with leather that glued to it and it looked really neat. So now I want one.

I wanted to change this post but I don't know how as Im not good with computers. I wanted to change the 6-7 oz down to 2-4 oz, I realized my mistake after I posted this. Serena. Changing your post after you have submitted it is easy. At the bottom of your screen you should see a button called edit. You can then make changes (within a short timeframe after you post before this function can no longer be used) Once your happy with your changes, click the save changes button and wallah. Barra

Is there a sewing machine that will handle sewing 1-2 oz all the way up to 6-7 oz., what model/brand would I need to look for, or do I need to buy 2 or 3 machines to do this type of work (one for the light end and one for the heavy)? Im wanting to make clothing and leather hats, and so that is the reason for the broad spectrum of thicknesses.

Thanks everyone, I will post pictures once I can get back to do some work, as my back has been giving problems.

Thanks Schno, I guess I should have been a little bit more clear. Im trying to also make this for my hubby as a surprise, so having him doing a duct tape dummy of himself will not work. I was thinking that if I took one of his t-shirts or tank tops that it might work but I dont want to waste my leather either.

I was wondering if the armor makers of the forum would be willing to share how to make a pattern for a breast plate? What Im looking for is what do use for a pattern? A shirt, tank top? Im having problems wrapping my mind around the arm hole and Im sure its really easy and Im more than likely over thinking the matter, but with every pattern that I make it comes up tight in the arm/shoulder area and resticts arm movement. With looking at other armors on the web it looks like some might use a old tank top as a pattern, am I on the mark or out in left field? Serena
