  1. thanks..I always thought from my charts that 18 needle would be good with 92 thread..but looks like 16 with thin leather. and 69 under would make a difference also.
  2. wherre the leather got a little thinner on this watch strap the knot pulled tighter to the top and shows... any way to manually fix of hide this any tricks besides not letting it happen in the first place!?..I know I am being picky and obsessive but my customers expect the best job especially on shell cordovan this is shell cordovan with a veg tan backing ..top stitch is 92 bonded nylon red and the bobbin is 46 bonded nylon black using a 18 needle.. Thanks for looking
  3. does anyone here have experience with rotary strap cutting machines..I have tried to adjust everything and my straps come out crooked especially with softer leather and after feeding the leather it always seems to angle off to the left (when facing the machine) and I have to really force it against the guide to get it to go straight.. any help would be appreciated.. thanks Greg
  4. it is lined with a skived thin layer of veg tan leather..I will have to take a couple..I usually don't because customers usually are not interested in the back!

  7. no I have done several more...you have to be able to shorten ..the length is 160...from there you can make most lengths easily..and have room for large wrists.. average is 120/75...
  8. I have made hundreds of straps now..with dies for all the common sizes...customers love them and are willing to pay what they are worth.. fun work and rewarding some recent work pictured

  12. got the alligator from Florida and went to town...cut skive glue and sew
  13. I have a techsew 2750pro for the stitching and I have dies for my straps that I designed and a hand operated clicker. With tapered straps it's the only way to go! The buckles are from eBay and I have some but the source ran out after I bought a lot of them. Thanks Greg

  16. I have the 2750pro and could not be happier...great machine and the support is great I get great reviews on my watch straps and wallets from my customers about the stitching especially.. Contact Ron at Techsew and he can answer all your questions...
  17. I have the 2750pro and love it...just give yourself time to get used to it..enjoy the break in period...
  18. I make watch straps and wallets...but these are popular for high end watches as well.. any ideas on how much to sell them for??? the reason the snap is on that strip of leather is so no hardware scratches the watch inside..I know there are other ways to do it...but this was easy and different
  19. The dies just cut out the straps. The other work skiving gluing sewing and punching holes are done separate with sewing machine or hand sewing and hand tools. There are many videos on YouTube making watch straps. (Not my videos)
  20. Thanks so much. I guess I was thinking it was more complicated! Have a great night!
  21. How would you tie the knot? Just a square knot ? So sorry I am new to hand sewing except for skin, intestines, arteries and veins as I am a vascular surgeon. New to the leather thing and only doing this for a year or so. Good thing is the leather does not need anesthesia! Thanks for your patience and answers.
  22. sorry if I am not clear...how do you suppose the knot should be made..?. thanks
