  1. I am making watch straps and when I glue a liner on with contact cement either barge or water soluble tandy leather cement how long should I wait before I sew the glued strap? I want to avoid tension issues or anything else that would be caused by the glue. If this is a dumb question I apologize in advance! Thanks
  2. I am 5 or 6 months now with my Techsew 2750Pro and love it..and the customer service has been terrific...I was a total novice and now sell pro looking watch straps and the customers love them.. just my 2 cents if that helps.
  3. Tom glad you are on the mend..we did miss you!
  4. Thanks. Here is how it came out. No holes yet as customer wants to tell me where to put them! http://i1161.photobucket.com/albums/q512/gregspitz/Mobile%20Uploads/FC1B9CCE-21D0-45A5-A9BF-72209A86524F.jpg

  6. Old Sears utensil set my friend likes and he does not like the plastic holster it came with. just a fun quick project and he loves it.
  7. I have one..quickly upgraded to the Techsew 2750 pro and love it..if you really want to sew leather DO NOT get the reliable..great for sailcloth and thick fabric etc...If you have more questions about the reliable or techsew...fire away!
  8. buckles came from a watch parts seller on ebay...have to search around as they are scattered and not always available another strap from a die pattern drawn up by Tom Green cork on leather
  9. Green cork glued and sewed to split leather. The cork was a little cracked where it is folded but looked better with some bees wax applies after gluing and sewing. Anyone else work with cork on leather???
  10. I use watch related websites so far and this one is $100...and that is a good price if you look at what is out there...collectors will pay well for a custom strap of fine leather..
  11. wanted to make watch straps and Tom drew patterns for me with my specifications. had dies made and the results are fantastic. THANKS TOM
  12. to be clear..I applied a thin coat of beeswax to the split on the underside of the the strap...
  13. I was having trouble with a watch strap that I glued a piece of 2 oz split to a top of thin garment leather.. the split is real dry and rough..the knot would not go through from the bottom with 69 bonded nylon and 16 needle on my techsew 2750pro.. anyway I used a little beeswax on the bottom side(needed it anyway to wear it comfortably) let it sit for a while..and it made the tension easy to adjust again does this make sense to anyone else?? thanks
  14. It will take some time to become one with the machine! Try to enjoy the ride.
  15. thanks so much...I won't make that mistake again.. have a great holiday
  16. was making a watch strap kind of in a hurry (should not do that!) last night and my techsew 2750 pro skipped one stitch. never happened before same leather horween and 69 bonded nylon with a 16 needle..but I probably did not let the contact cement dry enough prior to sewing...anyone else have that happen or am I off??? no tragedy..I pulled the stitch and retraced the holes and amazingly the machine did a great job fixing it and followed the holes exactly using the laser guide..
  17. 18. Tom did a fantastic job on the patterns for watch straps..I had clicker dies made for the 24mm-tapered to 22mm and made my first strap and I am very happy with it..
  19. They have been very responsive and helpful as I am new to this. Very professional and helpful as well. Getting my weaver manual press tomorrow. No dies to use so I guess I will just stare at it for awhile!
  20. Where can I get some shell cordovan leather for some watch straps and wallets. I am in the Chicago area can I or do I need to go to horween????
  21. its Tom that gets all the credit...I just gave some measurements...he worked hard on this and everyone should appreciate it.. these will make nice tapered straps that are not easy to come by! PS..my diemaker texas custom dies did BLESS the drawings saying all the lines were smooth and plotted well to make the dies.. so there!
