nicely done Drac. I think i would have cut it a little shorter, it looks a little puckered at the barrel end, but that is just me. i like the spine.

Inside Belt Holster

Ditto what Randy said. Attachment point for the snaps and holding the mouth open for reholstering. I used 8oz leather for mine. -
First Post/First Project

Nicely done, and welcome. You molding and stitching look pretty good. I found that the wooden handle of my edge beveler works pretty good for burnishing the edges. It does take some elbow grease but it works. Keep em coming. -

I hate to answer for Randy, but when I did mine, the snap only went through the reinforcing strip around the mouth of the holster. This was done before the reinforcing strip was stitched on. I am sure I will get corrected if I am wrong. -

Ya Randy this stuff is all new to me too. I started with the IWB because being that kind of holster looks wasn't really going to matter. I was more interested in seeing if I could make a functional holster. I think your molding looks good. Did you press that with your new press? If I do this much longer I am going to consider a 12 ton press to do the heavy molding. My next challenge is going to be how to get more of the fine detail into my belt slide holsters I also am going to try a shoulder holster. Keep at it and I am sure you will progres just fine. I am sure you are having as much fun as I am. -
I think you're right. I just need to decide what color. I might see how the leather will for to the bike before I get to caught up in the finishing. I'll keep you guys up to speed.

Ya that bike is cool, but a little more extravagent then I was thinking. I don't like the paint on my bike and was thinking a leather bike would be cool.

Designs on non-western holsters
WaG35 replied to Regis's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
those are nice. What is the skin on the pocket holster, the first one with the exotic. -
anyone ever covered their sheet metal with leather. I mean totally covered. I was thinking it would look kind of cool. Would it be too much? I don't ride in the rain, and I can be careful when I wash it, so I am not concerned about water damage. What might I use to actually stick the leather to the tanks and fenders? Anyway just an idea I had uou can tell me if it is a bad idea. I saw a bike that OCC did for someone that kind of had this theme, but most of their theme bikes don't get ridden much.

That is way cool. For my taste, the nicest tank bib I have seen. I have some ideas in mind for my Roadstar, I need to get going on them. Nice work man!

Inside Belt Holster

I like it. Especially since I just built one like it. Mine had a couple bad stitches also. When I built mine it was going to be a IWB, but it is not very comy so I used it inside the belt outside the waistband. Much better. -
Nicely done on both. The seat isn't my taste but I definately appreciate the craftsmanship. I plan on doing a seat & tank bib for my roadstar when I get the holsters done that I am working on. I would love to see the seat when it is done.

thanks fellas. I am getting really addicted to this leather stuff. Also, I have patterns made for both of these holster if you wanna give it a shot. They are made for a Glock 23, but you would probably be able to adapt them to semi-auto of similar size.

Shoulder holster question.
WaG35 replied to WaG35's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
thanks for the help guys. After a little looking, I found a style that I like and I think I'm gonna make a run at it . I will be making a trip to Tandy soon, so I will look at theirs also. -
New On Duty Holster
WaG35 replied to Randyc's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
I'm not farmiliar with the blackhawk either, but you are right about the blue guns. THe 2 holsters that I have made so far with the blue gun were right on with the real thing. -
I wann build a shoulder holster. Is there somewhere that you can get a pattern for the harness or is it something that you just have to give it a go and make it work? My only concern about a pattern is that I am 6-1 and about 250 pounds so I am sure that a stock pattern wouldn't fit but would be a nice start.

If you do that, I would round over the edges that are going to touch the leather with a router and then smooth them really well. I would think that if you don't do that you would scar up the leather pretty good. Beyond that, give it a shot. The worst that could happen is you could screw up 2 small pieces of leather.

New On Duty Holster
WaG35 replied to Randyc's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
Other than the slots looking a little rough, it looks good. I think my next holster build is going to be a flat back pancake with a retention strap like that one. I read on another forum, that you were concerned about pressing and your glock, 40 bucks for a blue gun might be a good investment. I am glad I did. I bought one for my 23 and 35. It would also eliminate some safety concerns. But I like the design. -
Thanks guys for the comments. I did a little more stitching on the pancake holster. I added a stitch line on both sides of the gun. These are hand molded and I don't plan to dip dye them. I was planning the dauber thing. Actually if I dye either of these it will just be for practice, because for some reason, as you can see, I used white thread. The guy at Tandy sold me some die, I know it was oil dye but I don't remember what brand. He also sold me some atom wax I think it was called for a topcoat. Are either of these going to work or do I need to go another direction? As for the purse, she wants it to be pink. The things I do for my little girl. She knows damn well I will do anything she asks me to. Thanks again for the comments.

well, I tried to post a pic of the 1st holsters to come out of my shop. The one on the left is a still in progress pancake holster and the one on the right is a IWB that is done except for some kind of finish. I think I will keep it natural and put some atom wax on it. I put it on for about 2 hours tonight, long enough to figure out that there are some things that I will do differently on the next one. Both of these are for my Glock 23. This was a lot of fun and this leather stuff is kind of addicting. My 6 year old daughter came out into the garage last night while I was working and said "Hey Daddy you are pretty good at that could you make me a purse next?" Of course I said yes. I mean what else was I going to say. I found a Tandy's close by, and I think I will be spending a lot of time and money in there. Anyway, I think for the most part I am pretty pleased with the way that they turned out. Especially for my first try. I think I figured a few things out in the process. My stitching got better as I went along. And decided on a few tools to get to make things a little easier. Feel free to critique them if you like.
