Will do but it may be a couple of months before I get to it or get it done. Have about two other projects I need to finish/get done and christmas is coming up in a few months so need to make some gifts also. But I will definatly post it up when I get around to it.

Tom that is a great idea. Im planning on making my girlfriend a camera bag, a bigger one for all her stuff for the longer outings and that would be perfect. I could sew a extra pouch on the outside and be good to go. Thanks a bunch for the idea. She will definatly like it. Also up here on the coast of northern Washington state (US) it seems to allways be raining or about to rain.

OK so I guess I should have come here first to see how you guys did it all with the guitar straps. They all look really good. I am currently making a camera strap for my girlfriend and am having a heck of a time figuring out how to do the padding. The strap is made from 4-5oz veg tan and I have that thickness available to me right now. I also have the thin pig skin available and I was planning on trying to do a little padding inbetween. Do you guys fold over the pigskin where it gets stitched on? WHat do ya all use for padding? Thanks for any help.

Hey guys I did a couple searches and didnt come up with anything. So anyone out there do a camera bag. I am thinking of one of the bigger ones with seperate compartments for a couple of lenses and all the other necessary goodies. Kind of looking for some construction ideas. I kind of have a few layouts and ideas allready but you can never have to many options. Thanks

Hey all I am looking for some better quality buttons or snaps. I have some of the snaps from tandy that have the gold star in the middle. I like the design and all but after about two weeks or so the gold has rubbed off the gold star. Not severe use either. Just from being in my pocket. I dont mind fo myself but if I end up making something for someone as a gift or whatever I dont want to rubbing off after a week or so. Thanks, I was thinking about trying out the maul but like was worried about the glancing off to one side thing if I didnt line it up right. I may just give it a try. I think Ill stick with what Tandy has as my girlfriend has made it a goal of hers to not buy anything at normal price from them. Shes really good like that and keeps a list of everything I need/want then compares internet and paphlet prices and stuff. Ill keep the barry king version in mind though incase I run across a good deal on one. Thanks for the input.

Hey guys was looking at getting a new mallot and use that 50% off thing at tandy (single item no machines/leather/giftcards). Figured I would try one of those al stohlman guys that look really comfy. Now I havnt used any of those synthetic heads before just the rawhide one. For general purpose use what weight 1lb, 2lb or 3lb. I was thinking probably 1lb would do the trick but not sure. Also there are two different types. The one with the head that is shaped like my mallot that has the flat side down that you use to hit the tool with and the other style that sticks straight out so you hit on the rounded side. Which do you guys prefer and which is better for tooling and such. Thanks for any input.

Hey guys I was wondering how you all do the leather inlays. Like say some kind of exotic inlay on your vegtan. For instance if I was doing a seat and wanted a stingray inlay in the center what would be the best way to do this. I was assuming that you would cut out the hole to match the area of the piece you want as the inlay then have another piece of leather behind this to help stiffen it up then glue/stitch them together. Another question is when doing the inlay do you taper the leather down toward the inlay Thanks all.

Well just wanted to reply and say that I bought one stingray hide to check the quality and such and maybe learn too play with it. Got it from the acazii guy that sells most of them on ebay. Very good quality from what I can tell. Pretty quick shipment considering it came from half way around the globe. Nice eye and the scaly portion is sanded or whatever they do so it has a nice gloss finish to to the top of the little scales or whatever and is nice and flexible. Looks to be pretty tough stuff so I should have some fun for whatever I decide to use it on.
