I noticed that, too. Usually when I use the lettering stamps I just set them in a straight line, flush next to one another. It's just the way that the C and the S happen to be when they are next to each other. This was actually the third belt that I had stamped (I didn't like the first two). I figured it was such a tiny error that nobody would really notice in person (minus us leather crafters!). The rivets were crooked just from the way I set them, I don't have an anvil and just use a multi-purpose snap/rivet setter tool. The holes were straight but when I tapped the pieces together, that one came out crooked/bent :-/

This looks great. Did you line the belt? I can't really tell, but everything looks great!

Also, I am aware that the rivets are crooked.

I have only posted once on here but I figured that I would try to start doing it more often whenever I finish projects. Here are some pictures of the most recent belt that I finished. I had a lot of issues with this one, I'm not sure if it was because I tried a new adhesive or if it was the oil dye that I used. It turned out okay but it's not my best work.

Hey this looks great! I've been meaning to start on my first wallet but it's so intimidating. I don't even see any issues with your stitching! What oz. leather did you use for this?

Thanks JLS, that helps a lot. Did you figure out what the clear stuff was called? There aren't any hobby lobby's where I live, but I'm sure I could order it online or maybe find it in a different craft store here.

Thanks for the nice comments! When I first started LW, the basketweave was my LEAST favorite, but now I wish I had more basketweave stamps. I have to admit though, I have difficulty with the basketweave when it gets close to the edges or close to the letters- I need more practice on figuring out where to fade out the pattern.

Hi LW friends I'm searching for a bifold pattern- I have only ever made wallets from kits, which IMO are pretty flimsy and cheap. I want to be able to make something that will last for a long, long time. My friend recently joined the navy and would like me to make him a wallet. He says he carries cash, a few credit cards, hunting tags, and 3 ID's for work, drivers license, and the military. All of the stuff I've found on here, Facebook groups or through google either don't have a template/pattern for me to print out and cut exactly (HEY, don't roll your eyes... I said I was intimidated of wallets! In my defense, I did TRY to make one on my own but it was way too clunky and I trashed it before I even finished it LOL) or it was for a different style of wallet (front pocket/minimalist, tri-fold, or something else). I totally respect people not wanting other LW's to steal their patterns, hard work and time, and use it as their own. So, with all of my blabbering aside... 1) I'm searching for a basic bifold pattern with a cash pocket, 3-6 credit card/id slots, maybe get semi-fancy with an ID holder. Does anyone have one, or would you be willing to share yours with me, please? 2) Does anyone know of a good material to use for an ID window? I've checked my local craft stores, which are terrible in the first place, with no luck. I read somewhere that the easiest option is to buy a clear shower curtain and cut it, but that seems like it would still need to have better reinforcement? 3) I'd like to eventually get better at making wallets. As far as lining goes, I'd like to maybe just use a handkerchief. What do you guys think works best for this? I know everyone has their own methods to their madness. When lining my belts I've tried QuickGrip all purpose permanent adhesive (I don't recommend using this for anything, FYI), and I'm currently using Tanner's bond contact cement, which I'm planning on buying some 3M spray after the cement runs out. 3a) If you've lined stuff with a handkerchief before, do you burnish the edges of the leather first, then fold the edges of the liner, glue, and sew? I'm just trying to avoid having a gap in between the leather and liner, and of course I don't want to try to have a bigger liner, glue, and cut off excess after because I can already see the liner fraying. Hi everyone! I haven't posted much on here yet... I normally just use the forum for searching for patterns, advice, etc. I wanted to post a belt that I made for my Grandpa. Apparently he had a "PLUCKY" belt when he was in his 20's that he wore forever, but it doesn't fit him anymore, so I made him a new one. He didn't want a liner; my g-pa is old school and said that the leather belts you buy in a store today don't feel like real leather (because they're lined, and he wants to be able to feel the flesh side). However, I like to reinforce my belts, and he was fine with it being lightly lined to give it a little bit extra stiffness. Because I'm a semi-newbie, everything is hand-stitched. Yes, it took forever, but I think it turned out okay. Constructive criticism welcomed -Melinda

Hey Nate- I've been pretty picky about my belt buckles. The ones from Tandy are low in price, a lot of the time you'll find them on sale, however, they're not the best quality and seem kind of cheap (unless you spend more than $20 on a nice one). Everyone that I've talked to recommends buckle guy. You can also try an etsy search, if there's a specific design of buckle you're looking for-- but then you might end up paying a little bit higher in shipping, depending on where it's being shipped from.

Hi everyone! I am trying to figure out how to install a metal belt tip from a three piece buckle set. It has two holes on the back side and comes with one short screw. I was told to apply glue to the tip of the belt, slide the metal belt tip on, screw into place and let dry. When I inquired about the two holes in the back, I was told that the other hole is there to allow excess glue to come out of. The first time I tried to follow these instructions, it failed miserably. Is there some special technique I need to try? Any tips (no pun intended, lol) are appreciated. THANKS!
