  3. i use to purchase powder dyes which i mixed my self with meths but the firm i used to buy from have closed down does anyone know where i can buy powder dyes from

  10. i come from sheffield england the once home to steel and cutlery now days theres not much of the industrey left .its a good place to live , i live just down the road from the manor lodge where mary queen of scots was held in captivity till she was took to london and beheaded

  12. years ago i bought a leathercraft kit out of the EXCHANGE & MART did the wallet put the kit away ,then sometime later i wanted a holster for my vaquero 45 long colt (before the gun ban in the uk) went to order one but they man on the phone said it would cost more if i wanted one left handed ???? so i got some leather and book of holster patterns and made my own .im not good at leatherwork as such but i enjoy making dogware, belts etc but since being on this forum i want to learn to do more things in the art of leathercraft
  13. the car boot season starts next week so i will be on the look out for leather craft tools i have had some good buys in the past cantell pliers, old saddlers hammer i paid £10 for them 3 stitch wheels £1 apiece

  15. just been looking at an old book that i have THE ART &CRAFT OF LEATHERWORK by C FRANCIS LEWIS published in 1928 some interesting things in it

  17. you hear about a lot of old skills being lost all i can say is anyone who believes that ought to come and look at the work on this forum
  18. i bought a old staffy harness took it apart and used it as a guide
  19. when i bought mine i paid £100 the man who had it was using it for an ornament in his front room (it came with the little drawer and feet and other accessories) which is all im doing at the moment i cant sew a straight line to save my life i think im suffering from hand and feet discordination
  20. i bought one of those in full working order on its original stand
