  1. Thanks. This leather marks quite easily so I just lightly marked a verticle line down the centre, I then used a set of dividers to mark the centre of each hole. I used the same process for each of the outside rows and keeping the same distance on the dividers ensures the holes are pretty much central. Its quite tricky and time consuming but looks good in the finsihed strap.
  2. I've just finished this and thought I'd post it here. Its a bit different to my usual vinage leather style strap. Thanks for looking
  3. Thanks Gary. This is mainly calf, the inner of the card holder/purse is goat.
  4. Hi Folks, I've not done any leatherwork in what sems like a few year. I've taken a bit of time off to work on the house and other things. i've enjoyed the break and came back with quite a lot of enthusiasm, I'm really enjoying the learning process again. I created this card holder/purse recently which turned out quite nice, although quite orage. Thanks for looking
  5. cheers. I'll have a pop down this week. I've had a few dyes from the cheap box in the past and also picked up some nice thinner hides in the £1 per foot section. There's certainly some bargains to be had.
  6. Just realised I called you dave, sorry Cheers, I'll have a look in next week see what they have. I used to buy a lot from there but not been in a while.
  7. Nice work Dave. Can I ask how thick the kip is? Nice to see a fellow north Easter on here.
  8. Yeah it's a little thinner than 632. To be honest I've not used those threads in a while, it's Au chinois that comes on the small spools, you can pick it up quite cheap on eBay. I'll dig out a link if you like. Another reasonably priced option would be serafil
  9. Thanks I've started a new little project yesterday so will post some pics when done. I'm ordering some new calf tomorrow and with the dark nights just setting in I should be able to get a lot more done.Keep up the good work
  10. Sure, I picked a few books from Goods Japan. There are printed in Jpanese but easily understood from the pictures if you dont read Japanese. They have patterns too but they are not to scale, you can translate to scale with some easy maths.
  11. Hiya, I havn't used any book patterns for any of the wallets I've shown on here. It's just trial and error really, the dimentions were just measured from a wallet I have here and the rest of the information was just stuff I had picked up buy watching youtube videos and experimenting with ideas myself. It took a while to get to that stage and I still find it very hard but it's a great way to relax for a few hours. Maybe look at Ian Atkinson or Nigel Armatige videos on youtube, they both sell a PDF with wallet patterns to accompany their videos. That's a great starting place and will show you pretty much everything you will need to know. Thanks
  12. Thank you. Yes I used a dye I made up from yellow acrylic mixed with stahl/gardini gloss lacquer. It worked out really well. Probably not as good as just yellow gardini edge paint but I didn't have any and shipping is a bit pricey.
  13. Ok no worries. Just the way I read it seemed to be implying I wasn't being helpful. Cheers.
  14. I'm not sure what you are getting at here? I have not used turned edges and have explained twice how I have put them together. What's the problem?
  15. Thank you. I cut with a roller cutter, I find it easier to get clean verticle edge. I just cut the back panel a few mm larger than it needs to be, cut a strip the same length as the back panel and about 1cm deep. Glue the strip to back panel (facing inwards) then trim them both at the top.
  16. Nice work. I really like the way the pocket is constructed.
  17. Thanks The top edges are not actually folded, I just cut a strip, glue and stitch it on the inside then cut the top edge again to make sure it's perfectly straight. I think most people do fold the edges in but I just find this way easier.
  18. Beautiful work. I loove the stitching on the belt and the blueprint case. Well done
  19. Thanks I've used Lin cable on this one. I'm going to start a new project tomorrow so will try the Retors on that, see how I get on.
