    Mask Moulding

Since there seems to be at least a dozen mask makers here, I thought I'd ask what you use to mould your masks on?
  2. Based on the Tandy reenactment project sheet, I give you my Q&D rapier frog! Pattern can be found at : http://www.sclcg.org/flasah/flashafiles/eswordhanger1.html http://www.sclcg.org/flasah/flashafiles/eswordhanger2.html Modifications: Tandy no longer makes the buckles or chap snaps mentioned in the parts list. I substituted different buckles. The chap snaps are only 3/4" so I modified the cut pieces to accomodate the smaller size. It's only really noticable on the rear strap support. Immediate problems: The chocolate brown I used on the flesh side bled through to the grain around the holes in the billets and main body. The buckles are a bit too long. I got lazy and didn't neatlac the pieces before I started putting them together. I can't cut straight, so none of the edges are true, they're all a little wavy. But, for a really quick and dirty test to see how well the pattern held up, I think it turned out pretty well. What do you guys think?
  3. Thanks for the greetings everyone! I like to say I have no artistic ability, but I follow directions really well. I dabbled in masks a bit about a year ago but stopped because I never found any decent forms for the faces. I've mostly been making pouches which would be appropriate at ren faires. I'm starting to get into making leather bottles; packing the sand is really good for stress

  5. Hi all, my name is Mike. I'm a hobbiest leathercrafter who has an interest in re-enactment goods. I mostly help my dad (whinewine - Russ) and learn that way. Now that things have slowed down at work, I'm ready to concentrate on the craft a little more seriously. I'm excited to learn everything I can about whatever I can. Thanks all, and have a good evening! - Mike
