  1. roller foot - the machine is specialized to do a certain stitch, a smooth stitch. while the 543 is related to the 545, it is not a walking foot machine. if you are looking to sew 4 layers, you will want your own specialized situation catered to. a 545, 1245, 145 would be more like it. these are all walking foot machines.
  2. 207 is heavy for this machine. i think the bobbins won't like it. the pfaff 145 is a great machine, but usually runs with much thinner thread.
  3. thanks Tor. i'll get back in and see what's what. the machine seems simple enough, but i'm not familiar at all with it.
  4. i've got a 205-64, and i think the feed dog is not staying in its place well. is there some trick to this?
  5. 207 is a bit heavy for a pfaff 145. 138 is more like the upper limit. does it sew ok with thinner thread? also, what is a size 233 needle? a 160, 180 or what? you might monkey with the thread take up spring, and get a heavier pull there. but i would still go back to the thread size as the culprit.
  6. the 145 is very similar to the 545, but is older, and uses a smaller bobbin. most of the parts are interchangable. the 1245 is the newer version of the 545. on any of these machines you can set the needle bar height for either the 134-35 needles, or the 190.
