  1. You can buy wicket and craig from their web site just google them. I buy there best grade skirting leather. I believe you have to buy a whole side. But if you call or email them and tell them what you are making they will tell you what they have that will work.
  2. I agree, I would love to know what tools you use to get that perfect straight deep line and that perfect circle around the slide stop pin???
  3. There is a huge difference from what Tandy has and say Herman Oaks or Wicket and Craig. Right now I am using Wicket & Creak best quality and it is so much better then Tandy. Its molds better and works easier. Also just come out much better. Its much more expensive but worth it. Especially if you intend on selling your product.
  4. No bean bending - I did mean to sound snippy and I'm sorry if I did. I was just trying to make my self clear.
  5. By single peice you are right - it really one piece for the body and one of the collor and the back. I just meant I wouldn't be laminating two pieces together. thanks for the good advice I will stick with 7/8 0z
  6. Right now I am just building for full size and Commander size 1911. I only use a single piece of leather for my avenger style. So what do you think then 8/9?
  7. I have noticed several holster makers web site say they use 8oz leather. However, I have learned here that holsters come in 7/8 oz or 8/9 oz. So when a holster maker says he is using 8 oz leather which is it, 7/8 or 8/9 or does it not matter? I ask because I am making a venger holster and have 7/8 oz leather and was wondering if this would be ok ?
  8. Thanks I just ordered one.
  9. Hi guys, I am looking for a mold for a Colt Defender. Normally I use Ring blue guns. But their web site doesn't list the Defender as a model they carry. Can anyone suggest another source? I have tried Duncans but can't get a email response. I did notice they made one for the springfield compact. This is also a 3" gun. Will it work ? Any help would be much apperciated
  10. I just checked out the Gatco video. Couple questions for you. 1. Do you put the angel jig to the left or right of the handle or does it not matter? 2. Do you go back and forth with the stornes or in a circle?
  11. Did you find a jig that sets the angle for you? I would love to now where to get one as I find maintaing a consistent angle a bear!
  12. Thanks guys, good to know that I am not totally ass backwards!!!
  13. I was wondering why most prople dye there holsters before they build them and not just wait until its already put together? I have found when I dye first the holster is not as will to absorbe water and makes molding that much harder. Is there something I am missing?
  14. Thanks guys that all is very helpful.
  15. Can any one help me learn to sharpen a punch? i have a semi round belt punch and its dull as all get out. Any videos or tutorials out there?
  16. I guys, there is a member who belt clips on their web site for holster makers. Can anyone help me out with the site?
  17. ok one more question. Right now I am using 7/8 oz leather for my IWB's. Should I go lighter do you think? Would that help with molding?
  18. Ok good advice thanks guys I have a crappy plastic bone folder from Tandy but am going to order a good one right now.
  19. [Particle thanks for the info. I will find a bone folder and give it a try. Tell me who long do you holdyour holsters under the water and how long do you let them dry before you start molding? thanks any other advice from anyone is welcome.
  20. Hi guys, Below you will find photos of some of my work. I have improved greately thanks to you all. But as you can see i need more help. I am most concerned with molding. I do not have a presss and mold by hand. The my lines are not as crips as I would like. I mold using my thumbs for most of it, a wooden dowl for inside the trigger gard and a kniting needls and ruler for the straight lines. Please take a look and let me know what I can do to improve. Also - let me know if you think the only way I can get that really crip look is with a press. thanks in advance.
  21. I am looking for no more then 50 snap sets. As far as style just the standard pull the dot that most holster makes use.
  22. I will take the comp tac clips - do you take pay-pal by chance?
  23. Hey guys, I need some DOT fasterners but don't want to order direct because of the 100 snap requirement. Where else can I buy at a decent price and get less snaps?
  24. That looks great. I would buy it if you made two changes. 1. Needs a retention device 2. IMO the cant is wrong. I think it would conceal better if the muzzle pointed up and the grip down. Other wise ain't nothing wrong with it.
