  5. I went to "Coach" and the stuff I saw said it was made in India.
  6. I would pay for a class like that for sure. I have know idea how to use a sewing machine but want to learn and I can't find anyone in LA to teach me.
  7. I saw some Italian leather that was very soft. They call it "vacchetta". Does anyone know anything about how it's made or where to get it? Thanks, Steve

  10. It's my first time at a leatherworker's trade show and I don't really know what to expect. If anyone would like to meet up that would be great. I'm going to get there Weds evening and leave Fri morning.

  15. I started buying old "Craftsman" magazines with Al Shelton's articles in them so I wanted to meet him. Even though he's retired he's still at his shop in Studio City, so my girlfriend and I went to meet him. We hung out with him and talked about leather and art for a couple of hours and looked at his creations. What a great artist and a great, friendly guy. He invited us to visit him again and we plan to. When my girlfriend and I were leaving in the car we both said "this was a great day".
  16. Is Al Stohlman considered "California style"? What is the typical "California style"? I'm thinking it's what is kind of the standard style, but I could be wrong.

  18. Hello, I would like to learn what "Porter Style" carving is. Does anyone have any examples of "Porter Style" carving? What makes it differrent than regular floral carving? Any info would be appriciated. Thanks, Steve

  20. Hello, I'm new to leather working, I've been doing it for about two months. I am really into it and glad I found your board. I've already learned a lot from reading the posts. I live in LA in the San Fernando Valley.
