I was wondering if anyone ordered anything?

I have one of them too and it does work pretty well. I use it to make my first pass on the edge, then I re-dye the edge and give it a good ol' hand rubbing with some more wax to give it really nice edge. It's hard to find something that works as well as elbow grease, but it seems to speed the process up. I'm on my second wheel, the first one lasted a little over a year. I think I shortened the life of my first one by using it when the edge was still damp with dye. I'm making sure that the edge is completely dry on this one and it seems to be fairing pretty well. I'd love to know how to make one using canvas.

Very nice case Kevin. I'm really sorry to hear of the loss of your dad. I feel your pain, I watched my dad suffer many years from emphysema until it finally took him. It's really hard to watch our loved ones battle something like that especially when we can't do anything to help them.

I've got one that I'm doing in the little bit of spare time that I have and it's all mine! I'm doing the body of it with some really nice black ostrich with a tooled panel up the back. Thanks particle, I appreciate it. I've been working a lot lately and just wish I had a little free time to play. rdb,thanks for the compliment! I used 8-9oz. leather for the body of it, 9-10 on the lid and 5-6 on the pocket. I used some bontex inside the pocket to stiffen them up and I covered the bontex with pigskin to make the inside on the pocket a little nicer. I sewed one of the seams up the back of the case with my machine and I reached up inside and used a saddle stitch on the second seam to close the back of it up. Both the lid and the bottom I hand sew on. Its all wrapped around pvc tubes that are lined with material. The dye is just Feibings light brown with just a little medium in it and reduced down. I put some clear lac on it used lt. brown antique paste. The center part really doesn't have any meaning to it. I wanted to break up the pattern I thought I'd use a diamond in the center and put something in it and that's what I ended with. Thanks a bunch Johanna! I'm a fan of the solid brass hardware too. I made this for a customer that's off at sea in the navy, it's the first of two that I'm doing for him. The second I'm hoping to finish up tonight. Thanks King's X I appreciate it. I had a really nice piece of herman oak to work with and I was happy with the way it took the color.

What a nice set! I saw some pictures of them on here a while back and decided to order one myself, and i just love it. Being a pool cue guy, the great choice of woods that he has to offer was what drew me in. I'd only used a mallet until I got it and now I'm really glad I ordered one because for me the maul seems easier to use than the mallet. Thanks for showing your set.

Thanks John and CarvedOn. Yeah John there's a few things like the seams to worry about on these cases. If was sort of fun to do something a little different for a change. Strangely enough the glue that was used to put the original vinyl was still stringy and soft so it just rolled off when I rubbed it. As old as the case was I would have figured the glue would have been as hard as concrete, must have been my lucky day.

I've been playing with a davis blank cue that Dave Sutton made for me. We made a deal for a trade nearly a year ago and I really didn't know what to expect but I was extremely surprised by how well it plays. Before it I was mainly playing with a Barnhart, a Olney and a Deano. I've got way to many cues laying around that I need to be selling. I love the one you had in you avatar, was is a Murrell?

I used fiebings dye, I just mixed some dark brown and a little cordovan and reduced it way down for the color. Then used some clear lac for a resist and used dark brown antique paste and then a little bit more clear lac on top of that. And of course I sold it to cheap, I've got to quit doing that. John, thanks I appreciate it. I was thinking of you when I drew it around the spots for the handle, and I agree that it just looks better that way. There's a few spots in the pattern that I really wished I'd of done a little different, but it's to late now. But I learned from it and the one I'm working on now looks a little better. Sewing this one was tough, on the square cases I use 6-7 and on this one I used 8-9 and it made it pretty darn hard. It took the better part of an afternoon to sew the blind seam. But I sure like the looks of panel better than the way I usually do them.
