  1. Both pieces are latigo That's the problem - they aren't cutouts, they are plastic windows
  2. I would stitch the case on (it attaches to the smaller piece of leather) but can't get inside it. The ipod slips in from one end :0/ Base panel will be glued to tank as well (so far) - I can fasten it with rivets or screws if needed
  3. Hokay ;0) This is where the panel is going - below the gas cap in the black area and this is the case I'm attaching to leather - no way could I build a more functional case than this so aftermarket it is ;0) I'd rivet but there's no way for me to get tools inside the case to do it - the clear sections are actually windows, not holes Here are the templates and pieces - the smaller piece is the one that the ipod case is going to be permanently attached to - that piece will be attached to the bigger panel with three snap fasteners so buddy can remove it from the bike when necessary. The drawing in the middle is how it will look when assembled with the small panel attached near the top of the base panel So basically what I'm gluing is the rubber case to the small latigo panel Hopefully the pics are worth a thousand minutes of typing ;0)
  4. appreciate all of the points folks - time for some visuals to better explain what I'm building back in a few minutes LOL
  5. Hmmmm, this is the reason I posed the question - figgered that as latigo won't take finishes really well, I'd better ask about gluing. I think there may be some "dress" rivets incorporated into the design hehehehe
  6. Wow ... a lot of inspirational seats on that page!
  7. Doing up a tank panel for a buddy. It is going to incorporate an aftermarket ipod case which will need to be fastened to a second removable panel(snaps). Will glue hold to latigo given the treatments that are done to the leather? Ipods aint cheap and I need this to be permanent. The construction of the aftermarket case likely won't let me rivet. Want to use latigo if I can for the weatherproofidity - this guy is not likely to spend a lot of time maintaining it and it's right on top of the tank so it's gonna take a lot of rain and uv :0/ Would contact be the best glue to use? Thanks folks Rob
  8. Great "beginner" work Pino! I wouldn't call it beginner by any stretch tho - nice work - period
  9. Holy crow! Those look like they'd leave a mark! Rob Blue Mtn boy from Collingwood
  10. Way nice! I bet your fingers are sore - there's a reason the one I did got braided - no way can I hand stitch that much. Vurrrrrrry nassssssssssssssss
  11. Bookmarked for morning reading ;0) Thanks fer that
  12. Those would almossssst be perfect - perfect would be that size, with the two bill slots, but with extra card slots on the right side instead of the little zippered pouch thing.
  13. Yup, was using the search engine - worked first time but then got all hinky on me - will look again tonight
  14. I have big arthritic mitts I also have fuel line grips on my most used stamps ;0) Varied sizes of line to friction fit ove the tool handle - let's me loosen my grip on it a bit while stamping and not so much cramping etc after Hairspray on the stamp handle will help ya slide tight fuel line over it and acts like glue once it dries
  15. Cool - might do the same - they're web page is very erratic and let me see stuff the first visit but every other time it tells me there's nothing there LOL I think that the roper style is prob'ly the best suited for a biker wallet
  16. I have a couple buddies asking me to do biker style wallets for them. As I'm not a big wallet carrier, I've absolutely no idea of dimensions etc for this style of project. They are wantin the biker/trucker style - elongated with a chain - snap on keeper I think - etc. If anyone has patterns, links to info, etc that they can share it would sure be appreciated. Anything to cut down the learning curve time for me would be great I need to figure out how to make a decent piece without getting into too much lightweight leather and cardholder sewing etc. Thanks peeps!
  17. Nice work on the dolphins guy
  18. Wow, that's a lifetimer. Beeeeautiful work
  19. There's another way to do it? LOL
  20. THAT is an awesome skull! I'm a biker that thinks skulls and flames are just plain overdone, but some of the work I've seen here is swaying my not so humble opinions ;0)
  21. Okay, I give up - how on earth do you seat makers feed the lace back through (between leather and foam) when you're braiding them together? I have a hard enough time when I'm doing something that I have access to the backside of? (scratching head) LOL Beauty work guy - diggin on the skull and lettering
