Thanks cowboy, I don't know why when I put in stepped ring mandrels in amazon I wasn't getting anything close. That is the thing I need but it's sizes are quite limited, And it's not a UK one, It might do anyway, but it will mean having to change sizes each time by 20th inch or so as converted most uk sizes end up with 1/4rs and 3/4 sizes. The second link doesn't allow much in the way of space when braiding leather rings around it, so it's not so good.

I had these book marked before but lost the page come how, I have checked extensively on google and I cannot find Metal stepped ring mandrels let alone at a good price. Can anyone help with this? I don't care where there coming from as long as they can deliver in a week at the latest. UK sizes ideally but at this point i'll almost take anything. The one I had book marked before had rings sizers too.

I like these a lot, it's one step away from being H.R. Giger like, and that really would be awesome. But, I don't have any paticular like or dislike for taxidermy, I know one friend of mine does it as a side, shes in forensics.

Your transitions between the 8's and fours and the buttons are perfect looking. Very nice. I love the colours too. Of course it looks a little tight, But I assume thats just otu test picture on you and the customer is smaller or it's meant to be that tight.

I don't care so much about books that no one here can directly review, My aim here was to catologue and organise reviews of books we collectively own.

I haven't worked with that much roo which i know you prefer so this might not apply. But i have made lace from veg tanned cow about 2mm even. And it handles well, stays very strong and feels good to work with as much as cow can. But i can't even compare that to drum stuffed cow. Sorry

Basically I am wondering if there is a machine that would do this, and do it happily.

I would like to know from a more professional standpoint, if one were to go the home made route and being as equal to the pros as much as possible what is the minimum entry level machinary you whould consider investing in. Laminating I would think would be required as (at least as far as I know raised ink printers would cost a bomb) Any suggestions on mircon sizes? Any other suggestions to this. Speaking for myself, I do not mind investing my time into doing things right if I can save money in the short haul...

Then I definately recommend you thin the bevel down, take it back to at least twice as far fromthe edge and hit it with a heavy bastard file and it should be done in no time. Use a permanent marker to mark the edges you inted to file that way it shows exactly whats being removed and you can keep yourself even.

This is why I asked for a picture, thats not really the classic ulu shape, it's a regular skinner. And it does look a bit thick, As a round knife no probably not the greatest but if you really thinned down and added a long bevel into the edge it might cut quite cleanly. You would get better use of it I think if you could could add your own handle to it but it looks like it might be a small tang glued in from here, which is a shame.
