  1. Okay I know I have to buff the leather after dying, but it seems the dye never stops coming off. Am I doing something wrong? should I be using a machine? What should I use to do the buffing? Any input would help. Thanks
  2. I purchased a granite slab for $40 from a countertop builder. they had a remnant pile and cut it to size. 2 ft x 2ft x 1 inch thick. I love it.
  3. Thanks for the photos. Man that is a strong pigment. Makes it nice to dilute down a dark brown to something lighter to distress.
  4. Hi there, does the Angelus rub off the leather after buffing if it not sealed? I have a problem with Fiebings rubbing off.
  5. Weldwood is the best so far. It's inexpensive and goes a long way. I have never needed to thin it down, just use a small brush for the little spots. put a dab on both pieces let it sit till it stops shining and put your pieces together and clamp with either wood or heavy leather between clamps. And if your worried about some squeezing out and gluing the wood or heavy leather to your piece, just put wax paper on both sides. Cheers
  6. Ritza 25 is the waxed thread for hand stitching. The Ritza 44 is unwaxed for machine sewing. Abbey does not carry a lot of colors in the 44 due to low demand.
  7. Thanks very much for the links.. Mark
  8. So I got a Singer 4452 Heavy Duty machine. I can sew cloth great but I want to sew light 2oz to 4oz leather. I don't know what size or weight thread to use or where to acquire it. Anyone have any experience with this machine or a similar one and what heavy thread and type is the best to use. Any ideas on where to find a comparison of needle size to thread? I don't think using the waxed thread is a good idea, I tried and it doesn't slide through very easy, besides I think I used to thick of a thread. Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated.
