Has Paul posted anymore on his painting class? All I have found so far is PBPainting01 pdf. And it's 8 years old. I was really looking forward to learning painting, as his examples at the bottom WOW'ed me and I had to pick my chin off the floor and put my eye's back in their sockets. I have NO art talent what so ever, and the fee is something I can afford.

That's kinda like half n half. Hand operated machine. How do you like it? Seams if you had a lot to sew your arm and hand grip would get tired. Something that happens more quickly with age. The voice of an old man...

I bought an Ultimate Kit from Tandy, had most everything I needed to get started. Lately, I've been eyeing Ebay for old tools. Some can be had pretty cheap and in good shape. Some are in lots with other stuff. There is a few sellers that sell used stuff for more than new pricing, calling it Vintage. Rough, rusty stuff still available. You just have to know what your buying. It can be time consuming, But I would prefer older American made than anything new that comes from over seas. It's not hard to tell a well taken care of tool. Personally, I wouldn't waist my money on circle jigs and things. There is always a way around it. My extensive set of sockets yields many size circles. And I often use the Free Demo of Delta Cad for designs, print it out and trace it on. I never heard of the 2 you mentioned as suppliers. But that doesn't mean anything. A quick look, I found this https://www.staples.com/Chartpak-Templates-Plastic-Circles-10-x-7-Smoke-1204I/product_2704016

We had that problem with a couple vendors in the Model Rocket Business. They would take your money and never ship. Luckily, they all paid with PayPal and was able to get their money refunded...eventually. No one got responses to Emails, Phone messages, etc. Hopefully, someone will pick up where the author left off and continue to offer his work. Or perhaps put it in print. It would be a aweful thing for his knowledge to go by the way side... Good Luck!

Need Coloring/Finishing Advice
WoodysWorkshop replied to WoodysWorkshop's topic in How Do I Do That?
I am guessing there is no hope for the situation at hand. I'm thinking I used something I shouldn't have for the intended purpose. So, my next question is: Can I wash the Briar Brown Hi-Lite off with soap and water without messing up the rest of untooled, uncolored areas? Other wise, I will have to start over. Something I don't look forward to. The details on those are really close and took forever to do. Thank You All Kindly for any suggestions that can still be of some help. -
If no modification is needed, heck, that would be even better! Thanks for the info!

Since I have been involved with model rockets since 1970, and know of a good site for fonts for vinyl decals... I thought I would share with you's here. I'm working on a couple knife sheaths for my son and since I don't have alphabet stamps I have be imaginative to give him what he wants. I just do what he wants in DeltaCAD, size, print and use the transfer film from Tandy and carve and tool away. http://www.1001fonts.com/ Hopefully, some of you may find use of some of these fonts.

That is slick as all get out.

Thank you Alpha, I should have realized that myself. I will try again. I like your LOGO Mocivnik. Where did you have it made? If you don't mind me asking.

I tried Press, Stamp Press, Arbor Press, Altering a Press, all I get is this post turning up in the search. Can you give me a hint on what to enter into the search field to get the results please?
-
Has anyone altered a Arbor Press to use on 2D, 3D and large letter Stamps? Grizzly has a 1/2 ton on sale for $35 http://www.grizzly.com/products/T27033 While altering it for leather use, it could still be used as intended. That's less than 25% of what Tandy wants for their press. While I'm a "Right Tool for the Job" guy, I'm also a penny pinching realist.

I wouldn't mind purchasing 10 hides at a time in future if the price is right and shipping doesn't offset the savings. Though storing that much leather might be a problem, making a cutting mistake wouldn't be such a problem. Right now I'm down to less than a single shoulder of 7/64". Couple of sheaths and I'm out, besides the bag of rounders I've horded I got on sale a while back. If I win my next SSDI appeal, I'll be investing in some (a whole big bunch) of stamps, and a press and stocking up on leather. I have a bunch of projects I have people waiting on. Mostly family, but... And I would love to make myself a Duke Vest. I would tool it up nice in honor of John Wayne! Maybe a life size bust on the back instead of canvas. The one they have at the Old Trading Post (.com) is over 200 bucks. I think I can make one cheaper than that, and would fit me better.

Need Coloring/Finishing Advice
WoodysWorkshop replied to WoodysWorkshop's topic in How Do I Do That?
Nice looking skull! I does help. Unfortunately, buying anything to finish these patches is not possible. I have to figure out how to finish them without buying anything. When funds become available I will definitely invest in some of that Varathane for future projects. -
Since I am new here I hope I am posting this in the right place. I Emailed Tandy Leather Company and I never heard back from them. I'm hoping someone can help me with this. I will let it be known up front, what I have is all I have to work with at this time. You can learn more about that in my profile for now. I used Eco-Flo 2602-02 Silver Cova Color first on the areas needed, overlapping the surrounding areas to be sure of full coverage. I then applied Eco-Flo 2608-03 Briar Brown Hi-Lite Color Stain the required areas, covering over the overlapped Silver color. I let it dry for 48 hours. When I applied the Eco-Flo2610-01 Super Shene it started to melt spread the Briar Brown. I dabbed up the melted Brown. I waited another 24 hours and applied another coat of Super Shene, and again it melted away the Brown color. I dabbed up the melted Brown, but now the Silver is starting to show through. The Super Shene has chuncks in it, so I'm sure it must have gotten frozen in shipping at some point. I'm not sure if the melting is an error in using the wrong product, or due to the frozen Super Sheen. And I am uncertain on how to proceed. Any help here would be Greatly Appreciated. Included is a photo of what I am working on, an order for a Model Rocket Club.

Just wanted to say to everyone. There is a lot about me in my profile if you care to look. I'll post pictures as I can. My old camera eats batteries, and I'm poor at this point in life. I've enjoyed looking at all of your posted pictures and reading everyone's comments. This seams to be a real friendly place to be a part of. My Well Greetings to one and all...From Mid Lower Michigan I'm no computer wiz, I was wondering what the "Tags" space is above when posting?
