Talking of leather becoming too stiff, I have been asked my half some time ago to make a bag in specific color and could only source chrome tanned leather. Since chrome tan is rather tin and soft, could this be used as a stiffener, to add some rigidness to otherwise floppy leather?

This is brilliant, looks like a great way to make lining with any design you can print. Thanks for sharing.

I tried gluing cheap bicycle handlebar tape but it turned out too thick for me, the tape is 3mm and while it is very soft under pressure it doesn't go easily under 2mm which is too much.

Nice touch with the label, I really like how discreet it is and yet still there to show off you mark. I recognize the thread from one of the pictures. Is is a waxed thread sourced from China, it has printed "Galaces thread" on it. I know since I bought some for practice. I have bought 0.8mm and 0.55mm, I have also seen 0.65mm and 0.45mm in sale. 0.8mm is flat, 0.55 is round. I didn't measure exact dimensions yet as I didn't try to stitch it yet. P.S. Where did you get the ABC letters stamp?

Looking at your workshop pics I just had an idea, you could use one of those magnetic knife holders for kitchen knives, fasten it to the wall and voila - instant tool holder. I have them in the kitchen and they are super handy, easy to take the knife and easy to place back. They should come cheap, I think you can even find them in Chinese goods stores. They would work only on metal tools, not so sure how it would work with awls and such.

In the first pic they look a bit crocked, the line where the 2 leathers meet for stitching? I can't magnify the picture enough to see better.

So plastic wood and acrylic paint would be an viable alternative to edge cote/paint. Makes me wonder what is edge coat made of.

I know Giardini makes something they call Basecoat. They have 2 versions Semi-Dense and Dense, the purpose to provide better adhesion and fill in the empty space on the surface. I am afraid I can not say anything more, have not personally tried it but you can take a look at their site here: https://www.leatheredgepaint.com/leather-edge-basecoat

First leather attempts

Is it normal for the stamp be so visible on the back side (I spot a blue circle on the opened wallet)? It would be nice to color the edge on the card holder on the left wallet, now the edge kind of pops put more because of the all black background. Nice two prong buckle on the belt, I do not see that often. -
It is my understanding that heat helps with crome leather when it comes to forming a fine leather edge. With creasing you can also use open flame to heat the hand creaser, like a candle or alchocol burner or something like that.
