  2. if I would have thought of that... great idea, I do lack any round hole stitching irons though, so it would have been a one hole at a time situation, not my cup of tea when I have the 5spi irons handy

  17. i'm in the north bay, I'd love to know what else you have available, especially splitters/skivers etc.
  18. Gotcha. It’s just the edges I want to skive anyway. So a bell skiver would be perfect. A crank splitter would be next after that. Just to thin the gussets over all. But skiver would be useful for so much. Local awards and trophy shop. It was a little pricy $45 but client wanted it and paid for it. It does turn out really nice. Bring sample leather to your local sho to let them test on Thanks so much
  19. Just recently finished and shipped this bag out to it's new owner to be used and enjoyed. Happy to hear any thoughts. It's W&C dark brown English bridle leather 8-9 ounce, gussets I split down on my old dixon splitter (I really want a bell skiver, it will be my next purchase) It's all hand cut and saddle stitched with dyed burnished and waxed edges, solid brass hardware from Buckleguy.com (love them), leather I ordered from the Hide House in Napa, their customer service is awesome and they're close to me so shipping is super fast. Solid copper rivets. Leather wrapped aluminum reinforcement bar under flap. Not in the pictures is a small luggage strap that goes from the top d-rings around a slide out carry on handle for traveling. My work can also be seen on instagram or facebook as HideGear Detail Album
  20. Not to join the fray but for anyone watching this thread I just wanted to let all know I just had a very pleasant phone call with Matt, and would encourage anyone interested to shoot him a pm and have a conversation with him. No harm in that and you'll learn a lot about the job and about Qatar. I have no affiliation with him or his business but the post interested me enough to contact him. Matt, thanks for your time and look forward to continued communication.
