Dear Friends Four days ago I bought an old table for a skiving machine. The table was in a sorry state, but I am going to paint it. Originally the table was set up for vacuum, but this had been removed at some point. I would like to restore the vacuum - possible via a vacuum cleaner - but I need the bucket. Hi Sainte Sorry for my late response. The mechanism on your machine - to engage the grinding wheel - is different from the skiving machines, that I have had. So I am unable to help you. Kind regards Danishman

Hi Upholstery I have had five 145 machine, and on all of them, the feed dog has not had the dropping movement. The same thing on three 335, one 545 and one 345, that I have had. On non walking foot machines like the 331, 143, 543 etc, the feed dog drops. Brgds Danishman

Hi Jimi It is about two cm too long. The part I am looking for is 9.9 cm. I am also struggling with the foot pressure regulating assembly, which broke during shipping. It will cost 350 Euros to have the part made by an instrument maker. I think, I will just put the machine away and wait for an old 145 wreck to show up. Kind regards Søren

I have set up several 145s and 545s using this manual. For me it has worked fine to use about "one tooth" height above the needle plate. You could use slightly less, but the feed dog quickly looses effect if using too little.

Just use the 1245, but skip the part with the feed dog going up and down.

Hi Silvershadow The service manual for the 1245 is very good as a general tool. However, the 145 does not have the up/down movement of the feed dog (the 1245 does). Kind regards Danishman

I have been working on various PFAFF machines, so I have not had time for the skiving machine. However, I as am waiting for parts for my PFAFF 335 restoration, I have time to work on the Dania skiving machine. I am planning to fit two motors in order to give it independent feed. Also, I heard of someone, who had modified a vacuum cleaner to make it fit to a skiving machine. Anyone heard of this? Kind regards Soren

Hi Jimi It is easier to find PFAFFs - especially machines that have been used in industry. Later today, I will drive to a smaller town in Denmark, where a couple bought a shoe factory four years ago. Everything stored in a barn. Might be some interesting stuff. From the pictures I can count four post bed machines, a PFAFF 353 (left hand), and a PFAFF 27. Supposedly there is also a skiving machine somewhere. Take care. Søren

Next problem. When I bought the 335, it was incomplete. One of the things missing was the "Presser bar guide block bracket". As I had three from old machines, that I have scrapped, I did not expect this to be a problem - I painted one of the three brackets black. Now it turns out, that this bracket is shorter on old 145, 335, 345 machines. As can be seen on my old black 145, the bracket is shorter (9.9 cm versus 12.3 cm on newer machines). If anyone has the short bracket in stock, I am interested in buying it. Brgds DanishMan
