I'll definitely look into that, thanks for the suggestion!

Can you say, POS?? LOL There is a couple of "adjustment" knobs for depth and angles as well as a few different rollers. But I can't for the life of me get anything skived worth a crap. So for now I took it off the bench...

    Leather tote bag

That is a really nice looking bag!! I'll have to post a pic of the skiver I bought, because it doesn't look anything like yours, like I said previously, it was something I ordered off Amazon. Hindsight being what it is, I should have saved myself the money. I'm going to have to look into that texon. I did a quick Google and it seems like its a UK product and I have to figure out what it's called in the US and see if I can source it locally, finances being what they are right now, shall we say "hinder" being able to order things online at the moment. Thanks for commenting

Well being critical is a double edge sword lol, but hey if I wasn't looking for the truth, I wouldn't post here. So yeah it kinda sucks, but it's good too. The strap is a double layer that I glued and then stitched together. I appreciate the suggestion on skiving the edges before sewing, it's something I'll have to try when I give it another go. Idk, would changing the tension on the machine help with that? The bell skiver is a cheap, manual Chinese pos but it was "cheap" enough that I was able to swing it thinking it would make life easier on me. Not so much but live and learn I guess.

    Leather tote bag

Ok so here are a couple more pics. I stuffed it with some crumpled newspaper. Not exactly square but it helps it stand. 1st is a side view, then the bottom and lastly the top edge with some of the lining. I can pretty much guarantee things will change as I try and make more. I bought a bell skiver off Amazon and let me tell you, I can DESTROY a lot of leather REALLY FAST with that thing!! The edges look like a heart monitor... Just gotta keep trying to get better I guess

Thank you. They aren't "perfect" but the picture does make it look worse. I have to work on my photography "skills" as well

    Leather tote bag

First, I will have to try and add more photos tomorrow hopefully that will help. Now for your questions... The base is flat, pretty much the same as a gift bag, if that helps. Yes, I lined it. I made a cloth "bag" from the same pattern and sewed that in. No closures, inside pockets would be beyond me knowing how to do at this point. Raw strap edges, I think next time I'll cut them wider and try skiving them down and sandwiching the edges inside if that makes sense? Yep, chrome tanned and unfortunately I don't know the weight. I had bought that leather probably 6 or 7 years ago and pretty much just went by "feel". I don't mind the questions at all, I'm still trying to figure out what I'm doing with every project that I attempt.

So I'm still trying to learn how to machine sew and not having any idea how to upload multiple pictures, I'm posting the "best" picture I have of one of the tote bags I finished. Nothing even close to what some of you are posting, but I'm pretty happy with it. Having dropped more than a months rent over a year ago I finally had enough of not knowing how to use a sewing machine and am finally starting to try and make purchasing one worthwhile. Comments, thoughts, I'll take whatever you might have to say. Thanks for looking!
  11. Frodo, you are absolutely correct on that!! It took me way too long to realize it as well, hey...I'm not the sharpest marble in the drawer! Any time I posted something related to boom sticks i got my butt handed to me. I guess some people can't see past the fact a holster is to carry a gun and that's all they "focus" on. I've since learned to just not post that kind of stuff there anymore
  12. Apparently it was taken as, idk, "right wing propaganda" I ended up deleting it so it really doesn't matter.
  13. I hope you have good luck!! I made a holster with we the people on and although I didn't post it here I got crucified for it when I did post it
  14. Hi, if you think that's bad you should see the first couple of attempts!! Looked like a whales tale!! I don't honestly know how much of a difference that would make, once I wet form it it seems to happen no matter how I've tried it

    Etui Pour Homme

I think this is EFFEN brilliant!! Not gonna lie I'm probably going to be stealing thus idea. I'm usually "that guy" that would have stuff like this in my backpack but not to this level of nice looking
  16. Tried that too, lol. Obviously I haven't worked that idea out completely either...
  17. Thanks, it means a lot to get a compliment here!! I thought having a contrast thread would be better, but I can try and match them or at least not go opposite. I feel I should have some made before I tried selling them but end up arguing with myself over making stuff and NOT being able to sell it. Lol
  18. Been back and forth on whether I should post these or not and finally decided to throw my hat into the ring as it were. My "prototype" is obviously the natural leather just to get an idea of what I was doing. The black one is veg-tan as well with an overlay of some type of leather that I bought precut for some checkbook covers. Unfortunately I don't think anyone even uses checkbooks anymore so I've been playing around with finding other uses for it. Let me know what you guys think. Should a make more, or just put them up on my prototype shelf?? Thanks!
  19. I'm guessing you have one of those fancy laser thingys, huh?
  20. Thank you everyone!! I'm still waiting to hear back from her. If I end up making her one I'll be sure to post a pic in the showoff thread. You guys are beyond helpful!
  21. Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask, but I was contacted online and asked about making a holster for the above mentioned gun. I'm assuming that the laser is mounted on the handgrip (awaiting confirmation of that) and isn't mounted under the barrel. IF that is in fact the case, would I be able to use a regular S&W .38 bodyguard blue gun, or do I NEED one with a c/t??? Personally I'd rather work with the actual gun, but, not that I can blame anyone, alot of people won't just say here's my gun. Sorry again if this isn't the right place to ask, and thanks for any help!!
  22. Thanks, I've got some old 60's electric cooktop that cycles on and off as you're cooking so I shouldn't have a problem
  23. Finally got around to making some of these today, have to say they aren't fancy or pretty but should do the job. I've seen lots of covers for the front handle, but I've only seen silicone sleeves for the smaller back handle. My OCD would not tolerate leather on one and silicone on the other so... Here's what I ended up with the back one needs to be reworked to look better but since it's mine, I won't be too picky about it.

    Something different

I'm not gonna lie...I'm confused, lol, but I'm looking forward to see where you're going with this

    Just a keychain

I can relate to spilling the dye, lmao!! I used to have one work table that I did everything at... USED TO. I've since gotten smart and set up a dying station AWAY from everything else.
