  10. Hello all, Still trying to get my work area in order. So I spent the last two days and some leftover wood from other projects to make a tool board and block for some of the tools that I use the most. The best part it was made out of scrap and left over hardware from other projects. I am posting a pic to see what you all think? Take Care and Happy Thanksgiving to all.
  11. Dito Ryano. His track record in the past with some people I know he would never follow through with the sale if they did have the cash. Just calling it like I see it.
  12. Glad it helped you. take care

  15. Thank you for all of your hard work on this site. Also how is the weather in Ohio?

  16. I ran into 5 Champions, 2 wide throught and 3 narrow about 6 or 7 years ago. Out of the five I was able to make one sew. The one spot that I found that was a problem on all five was a link that is used to connect the shaft that drives the bobbin to the main stack of cams on the shaft with the hand weel. Forgive me for the poss miss naming of these parts. It had two screws that hold the system together and they looked like they worked loose and stripped out the threads. A problem that a little of locktite would fix if the threads are still good. With mine they were stripped. I had to remove the shaft that drives the bobbin and weld it up and redrill and tap it. It took alot of time just to get it out of the machine and put it back together. The one sewed fine after that and made a great stitch, however I sold it soon after that with the other machines as a package deal. If the machine feels like it is binding up when you turn it by hand check this area. Look at the back of the machine and follow the shaft that drives the bobbin to the left. The link sits on the end of this shaft, you can rotate the hand weel back and forth and see slop in the link if it is worn. I have a friend that sews on a Champion narrow throught and loves it. If you get one that is worn out it can be a hand full of trouble, just like any other machine. I was told that most of them seen use in factories and hard use at that. As for the thread lock i can't rember much about that part. Check with Cambell Bosworth the could poss help you out with manuals and maybe even locating used parts.
  17. Try Diablo Silver smiths. I think they still have a web site. You will want to ask for silver overlay. It is a thin layer of silver over nickle. The nickle gives it alot of strength and their is enough silver to engrave. They are out of Grass Valley Cal. I know the owner of Buffalo Brothers, we used to do some work together and I supplied him holsters and belts to sell. His conchos are cast out of a lead free pewter, they are very nice and prices are very fair. They will wear faster than a silver overlay concho. It will take years for overlay to wear through. I hope this helps you out. Diablo Silver 1-800-551-2233
  18. That is a Landis #1. I sewed on one for about 10 years and loved mine. I found a landis #3 about 4 years ago and that is what I use now. They do use a feed dog on the bottom and the foot feeds as well. You can still buy needles for them, parts are a little tough to find and they will be used when you find them. One nice thing about the 1 is it is simple with some basic shop know how you can work on it your self. Mine would not even turn due to rust when I got it I worked on it for a week or so and had it making stitches. They are not a fancy as the new machines of today but they will out last them by far. They are not made to sew fast so use a speed reducer if you choose to put a motor on it. Mine was hand powered and still is a friend of mine uses it daily now with no trouble. (Great for holsters, sheaths, belts and many other uses in stitching leather, they don't like nylon though, just my exp though.)
  19. Thank you for all the nice coments.
  20. Very nice Tim.
  21. Hello Leather Land, Just finished these Sorry about the bad pictures. I was told this was a old Porter pattren. I still have along way to go and will do alot different on the next set. I carved a set prior to this that ended up in the scrap bin. Someday I will be good at this however alot of cattle are going to die getting their. There are many things that were a first for me on these and I learned alot. Until next time Take Care All.
