Some More Square Bottom Chinks
Tkleather1 replied to Tkleather1's topic in Clothing, Jackets, Vests and Chaps
Well Pete normally I like to use a one piece but since I just used scraps I had layin around from a pair I just finised I was forced to use two pieces. I think they are still pretty nice as I was able to hide it as best as I could. Mark, I have been kinda busy I guess I am still way behind though, I will hopefully post another pair before thanksgiving but I wouldnt hold my breath. LOL Thanks for lookin. Tim -
Here is another pair of Square bottom chinks I just finished up. They are Bone bodies and the trim is a tan oiltan that I had layin around. Let me know what you think and feel free to ask anything that comes to mind. Thanks Tim TK-Leather

Shoulder Holster For Compact 1911
Tkleather1 replied to Tkleather1's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
Thanks for the input Lobo, and as far as "all that leather" goes this is mainly for when I am horseback. It is a lot easier to carry up high when wearing chinks and tryin to rope somethin out in the brush. and yes I do need a jacket about 7 months out of the year (at least) Thanks again for the input. -
Hey all, I am not a gun leather guy and I am booked up to boot. I Just purchased an RIA compact 1911 and I bought a Milt sparks CC IWB holster with it. I am looking for a verticle carry (preferably) shoulder holster. I was just curious if any of you gun leather gurus would be able to do this or not. If anyone is interested shoot me a pm and let me know what it would cost. Thanks a bunch Tim TK-Leather

Well I have been busy and havent posted anything for a while so here is a three fer one. First is a pair of chinks for a friend of mines wife. oil tan bodies from Tandy and the pink is from the hide house. Pretty straight forward on this set. Next is a book cover, that Is beeing donated to the Cattle producers of Washington auction. The leafs are unoiled as we thought that whoever buys it might want a name or a brand tooled in so after the meeting I will see what needs to be done. again pretty straght forward just a little floral carving and some basket stamp work. and last here I have a rifle sling for a friend of mine with just some light floral and basket. Let me know what you all think and what I did wrong and I will sure as heck work on it for the next batch. I should have pictures of another three pair of chinks here pretty soon but we will see if they ship before pictures or not since I am a little bit under the gun on some stuff. Thanks for looking and let me know what you all think of everything, Have a great day. Tim TK-Leather

Well it doesnt matter what side you put the handle on. on one of my knives I have to do half of the blade and then put the handle on the other side, but as long as you stay with the same angle it works out . I was trying to go back and forth but had way better results using small circles

I am currently using a Gatco knife sharpening system. It seems to be working really nice. I did buy the extra fine diamond stone for it however.

It looks to me as if the saddle could go a touch more forward onto the withers. With that and the new cinch I doubt like hell you will have too much more trouble. as far as the new pad goes I dont know I like the felt pads with the neoprene centers and the air holes cut out along the back bone. Sold by Cowboys choice. Just my opinions.

I use clear fingernail polish

Excellent, and Thank you very much Ben

Just out of curiosity are you two talking about french curves? if not could I get a ;icture of what you are talkin about? Tim TK-Leather

I use it on the entire project. Then when you use the antique it will slightly get through on top but where the leather is mashed down by your tooling it will settle in and give a nice contrast in color. I apply my Wyoshene using a trimmed woolskin scrap. Tim Worley TK-Leather

New Custom Saddle - ? Cinch Placement
Tkleather1 replied to goldpony's topic in General Saddlery Discussion
Personally I would chang sides with the Latigo. And then put a Mohair cinch on it. That bulk under the ring of the cinch will cause some problems. -
Did all of my knife sharpeners leave the board?

Hey all, I am curious what the best angle is to sharpen at for my head knives? I have been struggling with this in the past and now I have a new toy that I will try out. but now that I have a jig I would like to know what angle seems to hold up the best and stay the longest. Thanks Tim Worley TK-Leather

So what the heck is the deal with the "rare earth magnet." I mean I hear this term thrown around alot and I am wondering how rare is this "rare earth magnet", and what makes this magent any better or different than any other magnet? If these magnets are so darn "rare" then I suggest we stop using them. If we keep using them then we will run out of the "rare earth magnets" and the moon might loose its orbit, or the earth might loose its orbit from the sun, On second thought maybe we should use all of the "rare earth magnets" and that would cure our global warming problems as we drift farther from the sun, and maybe some of the southerners would move back to the southern state (the one that they said would fall into the ocean) and then my property taxes would go down up here in Washington. Just a few thoughts Tim Worley TK-Leather "disclaimer" I still like people from california, this is just for giggles. but I still dont know the difference between them and a regular old magnet hangin on the fridge holdin up some 4 year old artwork.

I put a down rope ring on every pair. if the side panels are laced I have put them there but I usualy rivet a bleed knotted strap with the ring attatched to it to the yoke on the backside and then flip that to the front side. Tim Worley TK-Leather
