  1. Do you mind if I ask what you use for conditioner and sealer?
  2. Thanks for the info. Do you recommend any specific products?
  3. Is this technique considered "hydrating the leather"? This is a term I have heard used before. I have been using NFO just like mentioned in the above quotes and have been happy with the results, so I stocked up on NFO. I do wonder if there are other methods and materials to try out though. Just out of curiosity.
  4. Very nice work! Something I can aspire to!
  5. Thank you both for your comments.
  6. This is the first time trying to use acrylic paint. This is a checkbook cover for my wife who loves sunflowers. I see plenty of problems with this but would like to hear any critiques of this piece. Thanks in advance, Frank
  7. I will try the 50/50 resolene, I already have some mixed up. Thanks for the info all of you!
  8. What other topcoats do you use, and which is preferred? Thanks for the info in the post above!
  9. Thank you for the help and good info. Thanks for the good info and help. I am more confident going into my first paint project now.
  10. I have been you tubing and searching this site for a generally accepted way to prep leather before adding acrylic paint. This is what I have come up with: tooling apply neats foot oil or other treatment if needed deglaze dye and or stain apply acrylic paint I am not sure about doing anything over the paint as I do not want it to be removed by antique or resolene or whatever as I have read can happen. I am unsure of these first steps and unsure of when to apply antique and a sealer. If anyone or several could chime in with all the steps in an acceptable order and any precautions I will be very grateful and appreciative!
  11. Very nice work!
  12. Looks good! Would never know of your eye issues.
  13. Thank you
  14. Looking very good! They both go well with the grips.
  15. Looks like ebay has them.
  16. Where can I find this tool? So far, I haven't had any luck finding it online. It looks like the ticket though.
  17. The chat lady suggested it might be a nice buckle, loop and nice tip. KInd of close.
  18. Good answer! So, anyone referring to a three-piece dress belt is probably talking about a Ranger belt I would imagine? This is how my question came to be.
  19. Just exactly what is the definition of a three-piece belt? I have searched on here and saw a few pictures, but I would like to know what the definition is. This is an example of me needing to have terms defined. I asked a leather provider online chat, and we guessed at the meaning, but I want to know what you all think. Thanks in advance for any replies.
  20. Thanks for the info. Much appreciated. It says on Maker's website that Don Gonzalez uses them and they don't leave an impression on the leather. Just the graphite mark,
  21. Somewhere or the other I read something about using 8B pencils for leather associated work. Does anyone know why this is so? Does anyone recommend a particular brand of 8B pencil? Thanks in advance for your response.
