This is a book cover for a journal for my sister. She is a big fan of the Mandalorian and I put some of the characters from the show on the cover. I hope to finish it soon for her birthday.

I made this a few weeks ago and just got around to posting pics. I made it for myself so I didn't scrutinize everything and there are a few less than perfect things. I modeled it after Don Gonzalez's he makes in his video. I think I'd like a one part cover more but to be fair, I didn't follow his design to the letter and used 5/6 oz for the cover and spine and 3/4 oz for the liners and book holder/business card holder. I used a craftaid for the basketweave layout and then cut it in by hand and beveled with a checked beveler and did a border with some Craftool pro border tool (can supply the # if anyone is interested. I screwed up two of the 4 corners though :/ Please comment as you see fit.

I would like to get better at the craft and any tips and feedback you guys and gals could provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Josh

Oh great hive mind, lend me your wisdom: I want to make a book cover/dust jacket for a great big slab of a book (like college textbook sized) and I'm not sure what kind of material to use. I really like working with oil tanned but is that right for this project? Would veg tanned work better? (I don't really want to do any tooling on it, so it's more about function than form.) How much stretch? How heavy?

Hello all, My name is David K. Manuel. I am a first time poster here and want to share what I've been up to with leather recently. This one is a project I did as a gift to myself over the Thanksgiving holiday break. I had fun with this one and learned a few things. I look forward to being inspired by this community as well as learning many new things.

Howdy folks, I just had a quick question, hopefully I can get some help from some more experienced folks. I am in the process of making book covers: journals, scout handbooks, bibles, etc.... However I seem to be cutting my material way too short and it creates a really tight fit or almost ruins the book. I'm curious, is there a standard/guideline dimension beyond that of the book I should go to? I just don't want my covers to be too big for the book to make it look out of proportion. I'm using 3-4 oz leather. Should I make it 1/2" longer/wider?.... 1/4"? Any input would be appreciated. Thanks. ~Blue Skies

My first Daily Roman Missal cover that I made for a Monk friend of mine. I plan on making these (or things like them) almost exclusively, so your critiques or questions are welcome. I couldn't get the dye right, and I have new measurements for the next one. All in all, it was a great learning experience.

From the album: Warts & All
I lined it with felt originally but glue seeped through so I took it off and lined it with some scrap I had. The hand stitching was a pain (literally). Need to invest in a thimble. -

Front cover of the E-reader I made this weekend. I'm pretty happy with it but I'm happier that I learned a lot. I can't wait to make another one!-

I have been looking for a tutorial or patterns for photo album covers or note book covers but cant seem to find one with the search funcion. Does anybody have any patterns or constructions notes for these. For photo albums, do you butcher standard ones to get the picture inserts, or can they be bought seperately to be attached to your own cover. I'd be very grateful for any advice. Thank you.
