I have been mugged before, so I carry all my money in a coin purse. I usually buy them on Ebay, and are pretty cheap. The problem is they are all fake leather or some sort of flexible plastic and they rip out quick. So I would like to make one out of good leather and reinforce it where they rip out. But I don't know what the closure/clasp is called and searches hasn't helped me much. It's a pinch frame that closes on the leather sides of the opening with an arm with a ball at the end and to close it you bring them together and balls keep it from opening. I'd like to get a frame that not just pinches on the leather, but can sew it on. If it's wide enough, I could drill the holes myself. I've tried several times on the ripped out ones to salvage the frame but they are so cheap they just bend up beyond trying to use them again. Does anyone know what they are called, or know of a supplier that offer these? Someone must make these some where. Here's a link to an Ebay for a picture of what I mean. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Women-Casual-Leather-Wallet-Key-Holder-Case-Clutch-Change-Coin-Mini-Purse-Bags/322367293569?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&var=511296814295&_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649

I did a short search and this doesn't seem to be addressed. I want to make a locking diary cover where the lock is in strap hardware and uses a key. I've searched in the internet and this seems to be something that it is not readily available to leather workers, but so many are sold commercially for already assembled diaries. Is anyone familiar where there are different styles to choose from?

Hi guys, I'd like to introduce myself: My name is Brandon, I'm from NY and am very interested in leather products. I've always been a fan of the richness and how it adds an air of high quality to anything it touches. I currently work with a jeweler who I am very interested in having help me make custom clasps for leather braided bracelets. The style of braiding is what I'm unsure of. I believe it to be a flat leather lace that is double braided or maybe two seperate rows of double braiding..I would love to create bracelets out of really bright, vibrant colors like seafoam green, lapis, coral, and would love if someone could point me in the direction (after establishing what type of leather lace I need) where I can find it in the colors I'm looking for. I will stop my bumbling now and just attach some pictures for you all. Thank you in advance for your help, I will post finished images of my end product. -- Thanks again, Brandon

I have bought a couple of brass belt buckles from tandy, but 5 dollars a piece seems a little pricey. Also, I am curious about what type(s) of metal is best for use with leather? I dont want anything that will leave any residue or anything on the leather, or anything that will bend/break. Is there a good website that gives measurements and is of reasonable price? Thanks! Hey all, I'm working on making a hip bag for my wife and she told me the kind of clasp she wanted. This one from Tandy is what I got: https://www.tandyleatherfactory.ca/en-cad/search/searchresults/11507-00.aspx It's called a "tuck clasp". It says that it requires 2 rivets to attach, but when I opened it I could only see a place for one in the top part of the clasp. The bottom clasp has two little steel tabs on the back. It has no instructions included on how to attach. Has anyone installed one of these on a bag or purse or something? Any ideas on how to install?
